You can mount on Dragons (if you get Dragonborn DLC). It's not a very good idea, my Dovaahkin was killed everytime since I can't control the beast & we ended up hitting any tower/mountains.
Guess that if a riding licence is needed, I won't ever have it...
Nugs. Having them follow you around the world squealing in delight and rolling around would be adorable.

I imagine it would look more like a Borzoi (Russian Wolfhound) or Irish Wolfhound, though.
Maybe a halla. I've certainly spent enough time trying to save them from being eaten by black wolves in the Exalted Plains.
(Though I was about ready to throw something at my screen when informed I had to "herd" the golden halla back to the Dalish camp myself. Fortunately it only ran off in the wrong direction once.)

Ever since Druffy helped me punch far above my weight-class and close that level 12 Rift in the Hinterlands, I've been a fan of those ornery super-bison. And I feel like if you give them land to graze on, they're super-mellow.
Runner-up spot goes to a dragonling.
I want a kitty. A big, fluffy, horrifically spoiled kitty who terrorizes everyone else in Skyhold and adores the Inquisitor. And fluffs up and hisses at Solas whenever he's around.
When I killed the high dragon in the hinterlands for the first time, there was a remaining dragonlings in the immediate area that glitched and followed me around for a bit.
So as far as I am concerned, my Qunari Inquisitor brought that dragon pup back to Skyhold.
I really love Nugs as pets for the Inquisitor. It will be interesting to see anyone write stories about pets of the Inquisitor and how living with the Inquisition is like.
