Do you think, or would you want Bioware to ever team up with Telltale to make a telltale game based around Dragon Age?

After playing TWD season 2... No, never touching a Telltale "game" again. Sort of enjoyed season 1, took me about 2 episodes of the next one to realize something: There isn't an actual game here.

Well the only reason I ever played any Telltale games were for the story. I really enjoyed The Wolf Among Us because of it's unique take on classic stories. The Dragon Age universe is huge so there's a lot of room for amazing story telling.

As a fan of Telltale's more recent offerings, I'd like to see what they could do with Dragon Age for sure.

Damn good writing and characterisation in their games.

I don't understand the criticisms that they aren't selling GAMES. Let's be honest, the majority of the people who buy a Telltale game these days knows EXACTLY what they're getting. To buy it, play it, then complain that it's not a game is just a little silly. There's more than enough room in the gaming industry for a studio which focuses almost exclusively on interactive storytelling, and as a lover of interactive fiction I for one am glad they're around.

And then Obsidian can make Dragon Age: New Minrathous.

Well if Bioware ever sold DA I would only want Obsidian to pick it up, because despite their flaws only they can pull off great storytelling.

Otherwise no, DA is Bioware's baby, anyone else will just ruin it.

Sure. Just let the DA writing team do the writing so that it has a lot of SJW lecturing and Qunari bull riding. :)

Not really.

If I wanted to watch a movie, I'd watch a movie.

No, no, no, no, no, no, no.Please, no.

Telltale "games" make wonderful stories and characters (I still prefer Bioware ones) but their decisions have NO CONCEQUENCE.

At the beggining of each of their game they give you a message saying "Your decisions tailor the way the game will play out" or something like that. They're lying to your face, no matter what you do everything always turns out the same. That is like, the opposite of Dragon Age.

It's not a lie. It does change how things "play out". What it means is that the journey will change in varying amounts based on your choices, but the destination will remain the same (and this changed with TWD Season 2's ending, there were four/five different endings there). I mean, come on, everyone at this point should know that all Telltale game series are Illusion of choice games, and never pretended to be anything else.

I personally don't mind illusion of choice, as long as the illusion stays up (which is why I don't look up what happens if I made X choice instead of Y, because obviously things turn out mostly the same). As long as I feel like I have some kind power over the story, that it's my own personalized journey, then I'm alright. Plus the characters/plotlines are awesome.

While I don't think this will happen, I'd love to see it. Bioware and Telltale should make a baby.

I don't know. Never wanted to buy a Telltale game. I don't think cutting out the combat and tpg nature would help.

Yes.

It would be a breath of fresh air to step into the shoes of some characters within the Dragon Age universe who aren't responsible for the fate of the world.

It would be a great platform to tell small stories that don't necessarily impact the state of the world, but add depth.

Short vignettes about some little people, small players in the world, with smaller scale conflicts like say:

A pirate on Isabela's ship who discovers a plot of mutiny and must choose sides.

A servant in Orlais playing the Game.

A prisoner of the Qunari who must choose whether or not to accept the Qun.

A bartender in Kirkwall who gets tangled up in a gang-related territory dispute.

A dwarf of the smith caste who was tasked with crafting something for a noble that was secretly cursed and becomes a fugitive looking to clear your name.

A mage tempted by a demon.

That said, I don't think Bioware needs Telltale for this at all. They could just use the same engine and assets they already have, just adding a timer to certain dialogue options, and locking the camera angle. I think if they had a splinter team using the assets within the game already, they could do this easily (easy when compared to DAI proper). All they would need are writers who are interested in telling smaller, in-depth stories.

Personally, I'm totally on board.

And then doujin game developers can make an indie fighting game with chibified characters!

But not before Namco makes Tales of Dragons and Capcom makes Electronic Arts vs. Capcom

And then Rockstar can make Grand Theft Bog Unicorn.

The notion of the Qun being "reimagined" as thug life puts a smile on my face.

It would be perfect for people who just want to experience the story. However, the slow and steady character development of bioware might not mesh well with the kill one character per episode style of telltale games.

I don't think so. Granted, I'm not expert on their games, but the design/gameplay looks boring to me.

Watched a few lets plays of their "Wolf Among Us" series and although I thought the story was fun, it was something you just watch with the occasional quicktime event.

Never been a fan of "games" you don't play.

If they decided to go that route, I'd suggest a machinima format or a full blown CGI movie instead.

I don't know. Maybe. I really like the TellTale games that I've played so far (Walking Dead and Fable), but I haven't played the Borderlands or GoT ones, so I don't know if I'd like that format for DA. Admittedly, I'd be much more likely to play a TellTale styled game than DAI multiplayer or Facebook games.

Well, I never played aTelltale-Game so ... I guess I cannot really judge, but from what I saw and read so far, no, not really interested. It seems more like a "slideshow"-point and click-adventure to me, not an RPG-Game.

But I wouldn't mind a cooperation with Sega/CA to make a strategy-game about Thedas...armies of Nevarra, Orlais, Ferelden, Tevinter warring against each other, plots and intrigues in the background, elves and dwarves as on/off allies and potential sources of instability, the Qun as a thread on the horizon, and then an outbreak of the Blight changing the game's focus yet again...all of that with a lot of RPG-Elements, Heroes, little Quests on the strategy-Map a la King Arthur?

I guess I would buy it. But these Tell-Tales? Not so much...
