Just a few ladies of history who were powerful leaders.

Margaret Thatcher

I don't think Margaret Thatcher should be in the list. She's not very liked and for a reason... but I guess "villain"-types can be powerful leaders too..

If we are listing women who were powerful leaders, an example I always use is Japan's first Empress, Empress Suiko. This is a woman who not only ruled Japan for over 30 years but was the crucial part in some of the most important moments in its history.

Morrowind had women running like football players, people modded them up to girly girls, more realistic middle ground doesn't work  well with cartoons in armor, it isn't especially telling. In any case the thing is an aesthetic so not everyone would be pleased. I find the game more sexy for the exaggerations. There is no end to realism like the sea looks real, but the spray looks fake. I am ok with both

...because, Bioware says "You're not a real women, if you don't run like a gay guy."

Not sure if you're being snarky, but just letting you know, as a gay man who ran the sprint events in track, I can assure you, my hips were not a'slitherin as I kicked up the dust.

That is a very good one, but I would or always liked

Tomoe Gozen

According to one historical account,
“     Tomoe was especially beautiful, with white skin, long hair, and charming features. She was also a remarkably strong archer, and as a swordswoman she was a warrior worth a thousand, ready to confront a demon or a god, mounted or on foot. She handled unbroken horses with superb skill; she rode unscathed down perilous descents. Whenever a battle was imminent, Yoshinaka sent her out as his first captain, equipped with strong armor, an oversized sword, and a mighty bow; and she performed more deeds of valor than any of his other warriors."

Neutral would be something like DAO. No hip swaying or spine twisting. Neutral is something that wouldn't be noticeable, it would be just person walking not person walking in masculine or feminine style.

I'm sorry to nitpick, but I seem to recall that the walk/run in DAO was quite masculine. A lot of us ladies asked for a feminine walk/run and that's why it appeared in DA2.

DAO's animations reminded me of a lumbering gorilla. Particularly in combat.

ME1 is what stuck me as more neutral.

God, I would kill for ME1 walk. To me, it was the perfect balance. DAO was just ugh. Wasn't feeling it. I think it was the space between the arm pit area and the torso being weird.

Don't forget the weird hunchback run in combat.

I remember the first time I saw that I was just "wait...what is she doing?" It just looked so horrible.

She looked like she was walking through a poop mine field. What made it more hilarious was running away from a mage in that position while they were casting at you. You'd get the funny walk and the crazy bobblehead effect when the spell hit. It was nuts. All you needed was Benny Hill music and Alistair slipping on a banana peel-- The Dragon Age Follies.

That's a beautiful image.

DAO's animations were a bit...odd at times. Not to mention the massive hands. Good lord.

I notice almost everything cosmetic. Noticing it, acknowledging it and letting it ruin my experience is totally different.

Her hokie pokie didn't tarnish my enjoyment at all. Still provided a good chuckle, though!

Yeah I'm not sure how you missed that. The run just looks so bad. I laughed at it for a good few minutes my first playthrough.

You know, it's actually pretty funny. I always did like that run, because it's a bit more relaxed (and at the same time slightly stylized) than if you were to run at full speed - at least it's like that for me. But, here's the funny thing. My inquisitor instead looks way too masculine in many cutscenes. I'm not that bothered by it, but I am definitely more taking note of that than being bothered by the run.

Although, I think one of the most frightening things I've seen in my life is my female qunari showing her teeth in a smile. I'm just... I'm amazed her underlings don't run for their lives. :D But again the game has so many animations that do work, that i'm not really hating on it.

I would say something against that comparison, but DAI is practically more saints row than dragon age...

a variety of factors I am sure, my own obliviousness, not being used to seeing female characters running in full armor at all, not playing female characters

I think the male run animation is the more messed then the female one. the female run animation isn't that noticeable(to me) but the male animation is almost obnoxious with how noticeable it is ( no offence to bioware)

Seriously? When did you last see a female athlete run like that? Even Ronda Rousey doesn't look that stupid running. Bit sexist if you ask me. I mean maybe some of the girlier characters might run that way but the Warriors? I'd like to see this bit of Misogyny dealt with in future releases.

.
Yes, I noticed this too.

Your character's behind sways like a boat in a storm. But it was worse in DA2 I think.
It is definetely NOT sexy when you have to watch it for several hours.

To put it bluntly, I think they both suck.  They both look poorly done and are full of exaggerated mannerisms/body movement of both genders.   <_<

DAO was perfect and DA2 was horrible.. poor me I guess. Really break my characters in DA2.
