Hey Folks,

sometimes I browse during londer conversations or video sequences or while I am waiting for a war table operation to end. Unfortunately, as soon as I leave the window the sound stops and I haven't found an option to change this. I'd like to hear the sound always. I wonder why this was implemented in other/older games but not in this one.

However, it would be nice to have such an option. Like right now I am ingame, but can't hear what's happening in the background (talks of the folks around me and so on).

Thanks a lot.

No, I just click the other window. I have two monitors.

I assume OP is also using the fullscreen windowed mode?

I do that as well, and I agree that it would've been neat if we still heard sound. Doesn't work like that in all games, though.

So you dont find it annoying if the game doesnt capture the mouse?

The only thing about the mouse that annoys me, is the change for the "Leave conversation". I am controlling the directions by mouse and that doesn't work anymore after clicking it (did before the patch). The wheel catches my mouse control. Else I haven't encountered any problems, yet.

I believe it works as designed.

Let me explain.

When you are playing the game, it has control of the speakers. When you decide to get out of the game by, say, ALT-TAB combo, effective control of the hardware goes to the new window.

If, in this new window,  you want to watch a youtube video,  you certainly want to avoid hearing that "background" music from you game, yes?

Basically, then, only one task should use the speakers at any one time. And, no, the Browser you-tube plug-in has no awareness that another task is pumping music to the speakers. Even if the browser is aware that the speakers are in use, who decides which one has control? What do you expect to hear when two processes want to use the speakers simultaneously?

No i mean if you can click out without alt tabbing. Dont you do it by accident?

Oh, that you mean. Yes, that happens sometimes but not because of 2 monitors but because I am forced to play with minimized window. Unfortunately when I play fullscreen (1280x1024), large parts of the picture are simply cut out. See my thread about Display: parts missing left and right in max window.

I know, but there are other Bioware games with the option to change that, so that you hear the sound even if you are not in the window. If I remember correctly even DA2 had that option.

There is no option I can find in DA2 to play sound when alt tabbed. It just does it

I dont play games windowed though so when I alt tab I dont need to hear the music

Same here. 2 monitors and I play windowed fullscreen. Sound drops out when I click on my second monitor. Would be nice to have an option to leave it on.

Yes. SWTOR has it and there it was an option, I remember I had to activate it. Would tell you details but it's been a while since I played the last time and I don't want to install all the patches just to look for it  ;)

I don't know when they added it but at Options - Audio you now have the option "Audio ignores window focus"  :D
