Ok here we go.....I've never played a Mage in any RPG ever made as long as i have been playing console games. So I want to give it a try as I believe everything I've read on the Knight Enchanter seems to be a viable option for me to play and enjoy.

But I need help setting up my mage as it will take time to open up the knight enchanter specialization. And when I say help I mean....

What Race?

Gender?

Skills?

Strategies?

Party Composition?

This may seem like a "Why do you want to play someone else's setup?" kind thing. Well I've played DW Rogues, S/S warriors, 2-handed warriors and Archers. Mages are they only thing of never played and I believe I am missing out but I have no clue how to play a mage so if I get someone else's setup and actually succeed maybe I will continue to play with mages and get all there is out of the games I play.

So ready set go!!!

Well, race and gender are really up to you and have little to no relevance for your future KE.

Also, take note that the KE is very overpowered and trivializes virtually all encounters to the point of making the game dull. Being OP is fun for a while, but once you've beaten your 7th dragon into submission by mashing a single button the novelty wears thin. It cheapens the entire experience of what otherwise might have felt somewhat epic.

That said, you'll be playing a regular mage at first so that's a good 20 hours to familiarize yourself with the class. The Barrier Skilltree and the Fire tree have the most natural synergy with the KE tree but I'd recommed you repsecc once you get there anyway.

If you choose to play the game in a boring fashion, then you will be bored. If you choose to experiment, then it will be interesting.

Put simply if you don't like mashing one button, don't do it. The KE happens to be tough enough to let you try out a number of different styles, so try them.

Totally agree there, KE is boring only if you make it boring.  "Optimizing" it means using more than 1-2 buttons and can be fun.  Although, it may take more skill points to get there compared to other classes.
