If I roll a Necromancer and have Dorian in my party, can we each have our separate dots on the same mob? Say I'm fighting a dragon, will there be 2 walking bombs and 2 spirit marks on it, or will we simply be ovewriting each other's spells?

Bump, nobody has gone Necromancer and tested whether having 2 in a party is useless because Walking BomB or any dots cannot be on the same opponent from 2 necromancers?

Sigh, guess I'll have to do the specialization questline to test and then see if I wasted my time since apparently no one has played a necromancer with Dorian in party.

I have no idea, would like to know the answer too though.

I received no answer so I had to do the specialization and test it myself on a Gurn.

The Walking Bomb and Spirit Mark dots will not stack. So you either use some other mage than Dorian, or one of you don't spec into Walking Bomb and Spirit Mark.

Stupid design decision. It's not like if I become a rift mage Solas can't stack his skills with mine or if I become a KE Vivienne can't spirit Blade the same target I am.

Thanks for answering your own question and posting it. It's a shame it doesn't stack as it makes two necromancers in a party pretty useless, while other double spec teams don't suffer nearly as much.

I think the design decision was more aimed at preventing double fire mines stacking - which is more devastating than 2 walking bombs, and Necro is suffering as a side effect to it :)

Which is pretty sad considering enemy mages can already stack mines on your poor ass ;(.

Even walking Bomb feels wimpy against a fire mine build. Sure you can use them together but comparing the spells in 10 seconds of ticking plus explosion walking bomb does like 70% of the damage of a fire mine which takes only 3 seconds to activate. And the fire mine does it's entire damage to anything around it while walking bomb only does its detonation.

Quite frankly the fire tree makes everything else look like crap, especially the frost tree. Storm has Lightning Cage which is pretty good but that's about the only thing of note.

And I'm really disappointed because with Flash point and clean burn, the meditation from frost tree, and extra regen from barrier on spirit I still find spells costing way too much for how little is regenerated.

I mean I cast a walking bomb and have to already wait to cast spirit mark, don't know why they didn't give mages mana regen per autoattack like warriors and rogues regenerate stamina with basic attacks.

For what it's worth I just went with dorian still and just grabbed terror and the passives and skipped spirit mark and walking bomb, as the necrom passives are still good to use.

It's too bad as a necro you're forced to take the terrible, overpriced spell that is Terror in order to grab other stuff. Terror is just a crappier version of flame wall, and even flame wall is overshadowed by fire mine and static cage.
