Gamebreaking bug post DLC. If animals are killed last, the key to the next room will not drop. [VIDEO PROOF INSIDE]

If the last enemy to be killed in any given zone is an animal, they key to the next area WILL NOT DROP. In a zone with animals present, the last enemy to be killed must be from the enemy faction. Making this video to bring this to Biowares attention. This bug has been tested and replicated several times in different circumstances with the same results.

Thanks for testing this.  At least we can work around it by focusing the animals first until the issue is resolved.  This will certainly make pugging much more.. interesting.

So, do the internal devteam responsible for multiplayer do any internal testing at all? i mean, it sounds like a bug which could occur very often.

 

i guess we should avoid downloading it until fix?

Killed a Druffalo in Elven Ruins, Zone 3, against Venatori and it dropped a key normally. It could be a difficulty level issue, since this was on Routine and I have not encountered this problem on Routine thus far.

Just got it on Threatening, so maybe, I havn't done Routines yet, maybe I'll do some of those in a bit for further testing.

Been getting this too. Except killed a red templer assassin last and no key. Happening almost every game. New dlc is great but 3 of 4 games I end up with no exp since I end up having to leave. Worst is it tends to happen around operation 3. I happen to be host most of the time so having the leader leave would be me.

U can do nothing when at the end of 4th stage u kill all normal mobs just to get wave of 10-12 wolves. U have to kill animal as last minion and loose all XP and patience.

 

LOVE IT!!! Hotfix incoming in month, can we predict what bug will be then? I guess that killing a goldpot will occur in Error 404. 

 

Pls try to defend Bioware more. I'm sure they pay for every post.

Are we sure it was killing animals last and not just another cloaked, stuck assassin somewhere?

The video was taken vs demons to eliminate this possibility.

That's the exact issue I've just had in the few games I tried to play. Hard not to kill animals last when they spawn in right after you kill the last non-animal mobs in the zone.

What they need to do is remove the keys entirely, it would prevent this and the previous issue with the Red Shadows glitching and not dropping the key.  Simple thing, if anything is left on the map that isn't a player the door doesn't open.  Once all the mobs are dead, door opens.  Wont happen because Bioware apparently operates on the "Why beta test anything" Principle.

What was tested before release?  I don't think the QA Dept tested anything on ANY of the systems.

First of all caps fail....

 

Secondly, yes I have seen a "dev" response on the forums, granted it was to belittle and threaten people in another thread who were being civil but they did go out of their way to reply and threaten people with bans for asking what the status was on issues so I think we should cut them some slack here because they are probably busy counting money. . .

Then you are doing it wrong, I have seen this bug on each map against each possible faction type.  It occurs when you kill the animals AFTER you have murdered the enemy faction on the map.

I don't know if this will help (especially since I have not tried the expansion yet), but I have noticed another scenario where the key won't drop. It has to do with that magic casting demon that puts magical seal (traps) on the ground. Apparently if there are still some active seal, after clearing all monsters, the key won't drop. Unfortunately, some of these seals remain invisible. If you can activate these seals, the key should drop.
