Dear Goodness... I haven't used Varric much in my first playthtough... clearly I have to remedy that with my second.

Artificer has always been insane but it just requires players to actually play a Artificer to discover their insane ability to do 3 times the damage for their Focus.
Personally I don't think their focus ability, though certainly nice, is what makes artificers so crazy powerful. It merely multiplies the insanity the few times the focus ability is used.
In the more general case, it is the innocuous-sounding "0.5s CD reduction when an ally crits" of the Opportunity Knocks passive, that really comes into its own when Varric and/or allies are built for crit, both in general when weaving different abilities and in the specific when Leaping Shot is used.
With the right build and the right circumstances (giant hunting comes to mind), Varric is neither cooldown nor stamina limited in his use of abilities, the passive having the same gameplay outcome as permanent flask of fire.
Varric wouldn't be half as fun in combat without the passive.

Yes, 3 demon Varric's.

That's all I've ever wanted. To give Varric the recognition he deserves.

Varric: See seeker I told you I one shot all those mad guards, my brother hired, in my companion mission.
I think that's one of the only things that's missing from Dragon Age titles. Why don't they boast to each other about how many monsters they've killed/damage they've dealt? That would be pretty damn cool.

Give Sera a shot with flask of fire and full focus. He'll go down even faster ![]()

Hahahah! I clearly have been playing this game wrong.
I'd love to see more videos of quick dragon kills with other builds. ![]()

That is OP lol.
I found that if you have crappier equipment, you can compensate by just using Mark of Death before. Not sure if that works on Nightmare though, I've only tried it in Hard.

That is beautiful. But Sera is ugly and annoying. Varric still remains #1 ![]()

Nothing special. If I remember correctly Bianca Arms III (Enhanced) Aims III and Grips III (I made all of his Aims, Arms and Grips). With Crit chance/Crit Damage and a Master Dragon Slaying Ruin.

Okay, I want to know how that works.
Hail of Storm using Leaping Shot, having reduced CD thanks to the Opportunity Knocks passive and buffing your next Leaping Shot with the last's upgrade, rince and repeat.
The question is, to get that insane DPS, you need a ridiculously low CD to spam the ability. Do Varric's own criticals count towards Opportunity Knocks? Or did you use critical chance specced companions along with other buffs to achieve that effect?

Just curious. If you have procs in your Mastercraft armor, do the clones get them too? I'm thinking of the hidden blades proc
The Clones will perform the same amount of damage the character using the skill does.
So if a character does 200 - 300 damage the other two clones will also do 200 - 300 damage each so you're looking at a (200 - 300) damage * 3 attacks. = 600 - 900 damage.

Well my Varric has 64% Crit chance, so he can pretty much activate the passive himself.

Well my Varric has 64% Crit chance, so he can pretty much activate the passive himself.
The question however is, how does the system define "ally"? Does it mean anyone that isn't your currently controlled character? Or anyone that isn't the Inquisitor? If the former, Varric's criticals wouldn't count. If the latter, they would.
I'd really love to know the machnics behind this extreme dps, so if you'd just explain, that'd be great.
