I want to complete this quest, but I'm not really interested in blowing 20 power on unlocking the area to beat the quest. Will this significantly impact the plot if I choose not to complete this quest and continue on to What Pride Had Wrought? Or is unlocking this are actually important?

Yes, it has a bit of an impact on What Pride Has Wrought. Before Dawn becomes unavailable afterwards so best completed before.

It's not like Power really matters, I had over 200 by end game. If you're struggling to get some, a store opens up in Skyhold where you can buy power/influence
