Have you configured your game before you launched? Friend had also a crashing start. Untill he started with default settings. and adjusted the settings once the game had started.

Mine is crashing after like 5 seconds, saying ME2 stopped working.

I even switched all the video settings from Default to Off and same thing.

I am running Vista 64 bit and have repeatedly uninstalled/reinstalled ME2 in the "programs (x64)" startup file and regular "prgrams" start up file locations.

I am running 2 Nvidia GeForce 9500GT 1gb vidram in SLI mode.

I have directX 10.

I have downloaded the latest Nvidia drivers, which were just released on Jan 10, 2010 (driver version .9621). These drivers specifically state that they support ME2.

I get the same error message every time I have tried to load the game (at least 6 different times now).

"Application failed to start because d3dx10_39.dll was not found. Reinstalling the program may fix this problem."

So much for getting the copy as soon as it was available at the store...Has anyone else experienced this?

Mine doesn't work either. I'm running Windows 7 with 4 gigs of RAM. ME1 works fine and Dragon Age runs fine, but not ME2. I click start a new game, select male or female, then it goes to the loading screen and just stops. I've left it there 10 minutes. Suckage. This is why I'm considering quitting gaming, way too frustrating.

I was able to fix my problem. I have Directx 10 installed, which apparently was not compatible.

It occurred to me to use use version 9.0c from the link below. This version of DirectX is actually required on the back of the box. Everything works great now.

This might be the problem that you others are having also. I think when I updated windows a while ago, it updated directX to version 10.

http://www.microsoft...es/directx.aspx

DirectX 9.0c redistributable version. Its about 9 mb.

Best of luck!

I'm having the same problem, but getting the DirectX 9.0c didn't fix it. Still won't start.

This is the problem I've been having (direct download from EA's site), starting and immediately crashing. I'm trying the DirectX fix now, we'll see if that helps.

I've been enjoying the game for about 10 hours of gameplay- and today suddenly, after I click the "push any button to start", my screen goes black and I get an invite to send an error message to Windows. I've defraged and reinstalled, dumbed down the graphics levels, but no luck. HELP!!

It worked fine and now won't correct? Has anything in your system changed? Drivers, another game, software anything? If not it sounds like a virus possibly has infected some file in your computer causing it to conflict. CHeck other games if everything else runs fine and you've already reinstalled try downloading recent drivers again and see if that helps otherwise short of reformatting your computer I don't know.

Thanks for your reply, shep82. My PC is fine, plays other games no problem. Finally deleted the game (except for save game and configuration preferences). Game did start correctly, and still retained my key preferences (I'm a "lefty"). Unfortunatly, my saves didn't seem to integrate properly- and I may have to start again :( Can you or anyone else advise me how to get the info from my Biogame folder (that was saved from the deletion) correctly into the right place in the actual game? Thanks for your help...

Your saved games are located in the documents section of your computer under bioware. Remember that the saves have to have a speciofic name format or they won't work. It's pretty obvious what the format is when you're looking at the folder.

If that fails, sucks to be you. You're gonna have to start all over again but if you're gonna rage that hard just get a trainer so you don't have to mine 50000 platium all over again.

@ other guy, we can't help you if we don't have your system spec info. outright crashes means a major software or hardware issue and we need to see if hardware is the problem before we can conclude its software.
