Topic. I keep hearing your prestige level effects the level of gear you can get from chests. Does anyone know if this is true?

Tons of threads and tons of theorycrafting... Nothing so far has worked in benefit for me 
Still keep getting low crap like ilvl10 uniques etc.. highest ilvl i've had so far was a grey ilvl23 1h sword. uniques seem to have capped at ilvl10 and rares at ilvl15

One theory I suspect is that armor items occupy the same drop table as purple items and 20+ items, but have a higher chance of dropping than purple items. Thus, like ME3, you can sort of improve your odds over time by "ruling out" armor sets, which can only drop once.
Since this is pure speculation, I have been unlocking every armor set I can, but I only use Silk to do so. I don't use Highever weave, Cotton, etc. They are too rare and useful for weapon mods to waste.
