I think what this thread has proved - other than that Loghain Mac Tir is a DILF - is that women care just as much about attractiveness as men (well, duh) but plenty of them don't care whether or not the love interests are conventionally handsome. I mean, sure, Dorian is hot and all. Doesn't mean I don't also want to climb Iron Bull like a tree. I did see some women complaining about Iron Bull looking like ... well, Iron Bull ... before release, but they were obviously drowned out by cries of 'HORNS UP!' and '#ridethebull!'

 

Give a character good enough voice acting and an engaging personality, and I can guarantee that he'll have a fanbase demanding to romance him about five minutes after the first trailer he appears in. He could look like the back end of a nug.

 

As for the taint making people hotter, does this mean ...

Between that and scientific curiosity about the 'legendary Grey Warden stamina' I think the productivity of my canon Inquisition is likely to grind to a screaming halt shortly after the game ends.

OP you are aware there was a mod to romance Loghain for Origins?

 

So apparently some players have 'been there and done that' and i guess they got the T-shirt too.

 

Frankly, romancing someone who looks like a mule kicked zombie and who's voice sounds like he gargles daily with razor blades doesn't appeal to me, but you know what they say "different strokes for different folks".

 

And, no, I don't think he looks any better in Inquisition with his alligator skin and gorilla jaw.  But at least he doesn't have raccoon eyes anymore.  Besides, he's never going to survive any game of mine.  The only reason I spared him in Keep is to leave his ass in the Fade so he can die in obscurity.

Loghain isn't my type, but I won't argue with the wonderful personalities that Thane and Garrus have.  Same with Iron Bull, who fits firmly in the "unconventional looks" camp.  

 

So I don't care about the looks nearly that much, but I do care about the person behind them.

Nice try, but women tend to overlook physical appearance in favor of personality much more than men do. Just look at Mass Effect, how many people do you think actually considered Garrus and Thane hot?
