Assassins' Mark of Death and Champions' To the Death are both neat abilities that can significantly lower the lifespan of a dragon.

I think a tank is always necessary, either Cassandra or Blackwall can do those two roles extremely well. The rest is up to you really. Personally I always take Cassandra, Iron Bull, Varric and I've never had a problem taking down a Dragon.

You
2 Tanks
1 Mage

Don't bring any rogues to a high level dragon (such as The Highland Ravager). Bring two heavy armed tanks, one mage + your self.

'Mark Of Death' is pretty effective. Both alone and in combination with 'Mark Of The Rift'. That demands you are a rogue though. Figures.

I killed Highland Ravager tonight. I sucked 30% of his health with the above combination. First you throw 'Mark Of Death' and immediately after 'Mark Of The Rift'.
I don't use tonics or granates etc. I play pure on abilities for both me and my team. The only thing I used was Health Potions and Regeneration Potions. I still had 5 Health and 3 Regeneration Potions left when he was down.

If you are a rogue archer you can use 'Leaping Shot'. It is rather violent with a very high damage rate. Go into stealth mode and get close to him. Then use your Leaping Shot and get out of the way again.
You can also combine it with Mark Of Death after you have used your Mark Of The Rift. It will not have the same damage effect but still pretty handsome.

Vivienne can keep your barriers up pretty much indefinitely if you've specced her into KE. So she makes any party combination feasible.

Personally I usually take Iron Bull just for RP reasons.

And Sera, just because she's an awesome dragon hunter.

Yea rogues are generally the best to take for dragons as they have the damage.

Don't take rogues?! A fully levelled up Sera with a well stated bow in a flanking position can deal 1500 damage with Long Shot and can hit for 700 pts per shot with her basic attack. Seriously, bring rogues.

That Grit perk and Templars elemental resistance are 10% resistance each to their breath weapon.

The tonics can get 60% resistance for 2 minutes (carry four each; uses spindle wort which is all over). Store is at lower right corner in Val something. Store has two selling tables; it's the one by the door, cheap)

The rest of the elemental mitigation comes from belts.

The dragon said to me: You bastards!

Apparently the Tempest focus power can kill them without much trouble, but before learning this, I had a good bit of success with Iron Bull (weapon and shield), Blackwall (2 handed), Cassandra (weapon and shield), and the Inquisitor (Knight Enchanter).  Obviously this all depends on the details of the build, but I figure any mage with Barrier should be acceptable... Cassandra's Rally helps, as does the ability for the other two warriors to generate Guard, but I suppose other characters with Guard generating weapons might also work... maybe.  I was also using the highest level anti-dragon runes for the Inquisitor's staff and Cassandra's axe... I'm sure that helped.

I always take Cassandra or Blackwall, Cole, and then either Vivienne or Solas. (I play a two-hander Reaver.) I used to bring Varric or Sera (whichever I felt like taking at the moment) but I got so tired of having to micromanage every single thing that they did so that they wouldn't stand right in freaking front of everything the dragon threw at anyone that I stopped taking them. Cole seems to be a little more prone to flanking for some reason. I generally don't take Dorian, because while I love him as a character his special tree just doesn't seem to synergize quite as well with the rest of the party as Viv's or Solas' do. And I don't ever bring Iron Bull because he dies like a bawss. Plus, if I bring Cassandra, I get to feel like we're going on a date by hunting dragons. You know, like you do.

The difference is that the DW rogue video doesn't use a Focus skill, that's the point. A DW rogue with Thousand Cuts can kill a dragon in 3 seconds but that doesn't count since it is situational DPS.

I think just Knight Enchanter Vivienne is really needed.  She's a boss.  If she's coming along, just bring whoever else you want.  For story purposes, Bull is great.  For gameplay purposes, not so much.

Its pretty easy to charge up your focus before a dragon fight, and the argument can be made that dragon hunting itself is situational because they are very rare and "difficult".

That being said both thousand cuts and hail of arrows are ridiculously OP and trivialize any fight on any difficulty

Oh and Mark of Death is also OP

Sure you can bring rogues. But it should be your self. An AI controlled rogue is not a good idea. Varric and Sera died almost every time even with the very best equipment. So I ditched them and brought Cassandra and Blackwell.
As a mage? Both Vivienne and Solas do a great job. They are nice as combat healers.

You might want to save your Mark Of The Rift/Focus until later in the fight.
Some dragons has a nasty tendency to spawn dragonlings, gain lots of armor or other funny stuff when you have stripped half its health.

I'ma go with... Vengaboys? Sounds like an appropriate party mix for dragon hunting.

A ferocious dragon plows through the forest but all you can hear is, "The Vengabus is coming and everybody's jumping".

As for my dragon slaying team:

Inquisitor - Tank

Vivienne

Cassandra - Sword and Board dps (It's actually pretty decent)

Varric

I take the dragon's head, Varric takes the front leg and the ladies take the back.

Hi,

I checked your comments in the video but still didn't fully get this one. Would you mind explaining the sequence? What did your mage do at the beginning? Are there many modifiers applied to Bianca for more damage?

Thanks!

DW rogues are great for Dragons, they dance around those legs.

Rogue - Tank - 2 mages

Rogue - 2 tanks - 1 Mage

Rogue - Tank - Archer - Mage.

It really doesn't matter its fun to kill dragons any ole way.  And I personally never use Tac Cam.  My disdain for that thing is immeasurable.
