Sovereign by a large margin.

The Reapers suck as villains because their motives jump around all over the place.

SOVEREIGN, though, was awesome.

He was a proper Space-Cthulhu.

"Why are you killing all organics every 50,000 years?"

Answer: "BECAUSE WE DON'T LIKE YOU."

And you know what? That was fine by me. I never thought there was a mystery to the Reapers. They hate organics and killing us is like fumigating their house.

I don't see why they needed to be more than that.

Sovereign! I don't care what they did to the reaper lore in ME3, his reveal is one of my favorite ME moments. I just wish they'd been able to make Harbinger as menacing as Sovereign...

Coryphyspit is an ok villain, but he got steamrolled by the Inquisition.

I think Corypheus is a better villain than the Arishok and Meredith by far.

Both are better PEOPLE.

But neither are very good antagonists.

Corypheus is the poor man's Skeletor trying to get into Castle Grayskull but the Arishok fight wasn't some big epic duel of the Titans for me.

It was a breakdown in relations leading to an unnecessary street fight.

(Well, unless you really hate Isabella).

Well the boss fight was horrible, but the whole of DA2's combat grossly mismatched the story as did DA:O's. They seem to have given up in DA:I and made the story match the combat, which is... unfortunate.

I thought the story leading to the inevitable conflict, and the tragedy of that conflict genuinely interesting, despite the game's flaws. Corypheus was only interesting a vague Darkspawn lore way, and the boss fight still wasn't interesting.

I think they needed Corypheus to make some victories to appear more menacing.

Either that or explain why he doesn't just send his Archdemon to Skyhold.

Solas' explanation didn't quite cut it.

Skyhold as a whole felt like an unfired Chechovs gun.

That is so true! After Haven you're just thwarting his plans and killing his troops without a hitch. Defending Skyhold during a siege would have been so much fun, they missed an opportunity there!

Cory kept failling after Haven, so it was hard to take him seriously afterwards.

I almost felt sorry for the guy.

They needed a big change there.

I hesitate to say, "do something more" because Inquisition is a ridiculously big game as is.

But maybe have Corypheus take over Nevarra or something.

Though I shouldn't gainsay him.

He destroys Thedas' Mages or Templars after all.

Sovereign. Very smart, manipulative and made different galaxies afraid of him. As for Corypheus, I just find him a delulu monster that needs to be banged on the head.

For the voiceacting alone?

Damn, it's close but I think I have to go with the Elder One, maybe just becasue The Enemy of Thedas trailer. I mean, that's the trailer that sold me on DAI. Well, not literally, I was going to buy it, but I wasn't specially excited about it, after that trailer, damn.

Just to be clear, ingame I think they're both just as good, but I'm going with EO because of the trailer.

That was a missed opportunity.

I wanted a real meeting of the religions there.

Corypheus representing both the tyranny of religion and the anger at God at once.

The Inquisitor either representing the beauty of Faith or the freedom of atheism.

And....we didn't get it.

I still jokingly refer to Haven as Innsmouth With A Dragon because of how it was in DAO.  Sadly none of those investigative war table ops about it lead to any Lovecraftian horrors lurking in caverns beneath the place.

I'm a big Lovecraft fan, too. Love Innsmouth.  ^_^

Well if we're just talking about me1 probably sovereign. But if we include the whole star child thing, I think the reapers become pretty pathetic. They're just slaves. Whereas Cory is the master. That alone makes him soooo much more ba.

In fairness, Coryheus was also kind of a dupe, but one that could possibly have ruined everything anyway. But yeah, the reveal of the Catalyst pretty much destroys what Sovereign was and the whole point of what it was doing with the Citadel.

On paper, both of them suck *******.

In reality though, Sovereign and the reapers in general felt a lot more menacing and badass. That ****** speech.

Spoiler

So memorable, so much buildup too.

Corypheus was menacing the first time I met him in DA 2, same in Haven, and when you see him coming out of that warden. But really, running from him didn't feel...

I don't know, I knew why I should have ran, but honestly I was thinking "Pfff I can take this *****." Reapers however... no, they'll **** you up if you don't get the **** out of there, lol, and they just look like something you don't even want to be near at all.

Corypheus just simply isn't BIG BAD material.

Considering that Soverign and his ilk were turned into mere jokes with the end of ME3 its definatly Cory...winning due to disqualification of the other contestant ^^

Uhm.....

Rudimentary creatures of blood and flesh. You touch my mind, fumbling in ignorance, incapable of understanding. There are realms of existence so far beyond your own you cannot even imagine it. I am beyond your comprehension. I am Sovereign.

Reaper? A label created by the Protheans to give voice to their destruction. In the end, what they chose to call us us irrelevant. We simply…are. We have no beginning. We have no end. We are infinite. Millions of years after your civilization has been eradicated and forgotten, we will endure.

You exist because we allow it and you will end because we demand it.

Sovereign , Harbinger , even the reaper that got wrecked by the tresher maw >>>>> Corypheus , now Corypheus ( who was also a puppet mind you ) vs Marauder shield is more of a contest ;)

Until the ending of ME3 i had no idea just how in the hell we were going to beat the reapers , with Cory pretty much after Haven you knew it was going to be a smooth ride.

Yea dude , literally could not think of a possible way to beat them , i mean one of them took on a whole fleet and gave them a run for their money how can we possibly stand a chance against an army of them? they were the scariest villains i have ever come accross in a game ..... then the star child happened
