We run into plenty of Hurlocks, normal as well as alpha, throughout the game. Yet, Ogres, Genlocks, Emissaries, and Shades are absent from the world. I'm hoping that we see a come back of these enemy types with a future MP DLC. Our only hope for more Darkspawn in SP is through DLC, but I fear that areas such as Kal Sharok will be left for the next game.

Not sure about ogres but i'm replaying Origins right now and it says in the codex that emissaries only appear during a blight. Maybe it's the same with ogres...

More importantly....why no Desire Demons :(

My guess is that Bioware grew tired of Incubus demands and the best compromise was to not have them in the game at all.

Ran out of qunari broodmothers. I've always wondered how ogres can even still exist, considering the qunari have only directly been exposed to the darkspawn once, and that was during the first blight with the colony of kossith being destroyed.

I don't get it, can qunari broodmothers spawn more broodmothers?

ogres are a rarity period. They need Qunari women to make them. Qunari women aren't a common sight outside Qunari civilization and the Qunari will put up a fight.

Yeah, that's what I don't get. From reading dragon age last flight the wardens count at least 50 ogres during the outbreak of the 4th blight in antiva, and there are dozens in ferelden during the fifth blight. The darkspawn who first captured female qunari to turn into broodmothers date them at over 900 years from the fifth blight. As broodmothers are technically ghouls, they're not immortal like darkspawn and do die. Where are they getting all of these ogres from? Darkspawn themselves are immortal, but cannot reproduce naturally.

As for the OP's question, ogres aren't commonly seen outside of blights. Same with emissaries, hurlock alphas, etc. You're pretty much stuck with basic hurlock and genlock grunts. Maybe a few shrieks.

Hmmm, I finished the game yet. Are there a lot of them later on?

There really aren't. A hand full in the Storm Coast and the Western Approach. Nothing to write home about.

Give us Desire Demons back and this game would be 10/10 for me. I miss them :(

Ogres are made from corrupted Qunari who are not often spotted outside of their lands and like elves and humans, has not much of reason to go to Deep Roads-esque levels. Qunari women even less so.

The Ogres seen in Ferelden likely stems from either a broodmother or were snatched by some of the darkspawn that sometimes venture closer to the surface. I'd imaging some of them were Tal-vashoth.

I can't help but wonder if some of those from Sten's command were captured and turned when they were attacked...

My guess would be that Qunari broodmothers are in short supply or all dead. That and there is no blight so you don't see many darkspawn on the surface in Inquisition.

I wish there were ogres and shrieks and emissaries. DA2 was my first game back from a 15yr hiatus. It got me to play DAO, which despite the closed world, is still the best game I ever played.

Ogres weren't in the game because the darkspawn weren't featured prominently in DAI. Simple as that.

Keep in mind that making new creature models and animations requires a lot of work.

Except the main antagonist is a Darkspawn himself. And he has sway over the Darkspawn.

Dude literally had an army already established. I actually don't know why the Darkspawn weren't more prominent, considering that fact.

Corypheus refuses to admit his connection to the darkspawn.

Why was there no Ogre in DAI or dark spawn hoard?

The Shleets got him.

We don't have blight so we don't see them as apparently they are seen very rarely on the surface outside blights.

I don't think we deal with so many darkspawn in dai.

True. I think it's only in Western Approach and Valammar or however it's spelled.

They're all digging. I imagine Ogres are especially good at this.

Perhaps a DLC multiplayer deep roads map?  :D

There are no Ogre appearances, though they're casually mentioned in a war table operation.

It's just as well that they don't appear. The Darkspawn are still using their DAII variants. Aside from Hurlock Alphas, Genlocks, and Genlock Alphas... I despise the DAII incarnations of Darkspawn. Ogres, Hurlocks, Emissaries, and the unused Shriek concept should all be put to the torch.

Yeah, the unused Shriek concept in particular is just terrible.

Not really. The biggest concentration of darkspawn is in the Western Approach, when you get close to an old Tevinter prison complex. They're a tertiary threat at best.
