Yeah, it really depends on what the new devine does. Simply allowing Shartan's verses and allowing elves to at least be Chantry brothers/sisters will be a HUGE boost in how people view elves.

To my understanding, CE are brought up Andrastians anyways

cant be as bad as the fans shitting on the leliana divine ending

I can understand it. Leliana is a tiresome Mary Sue character that has obvious dev bias and love, which they've never hidden. Why should anyone be surprised that her ending was anything less than rainbows ponies and perfection.

I really hope they don't go andrastian, actually. That would be so lame.

yeah except my ending for Leilana included blood in the streets and reforms not working bcuz she went so nutso so.

BUT. I digress. What I really wanted to address was this idea of Dalish clans being all different. Yes, I remember that. However, if you look at the Dalish they choose to show us or tell us about vs the Dalish that are vaguely alluded to in a handwavey "not all dalish" way or the PC's special snowflake clan, they don't do a very good job of showing us the diversity in Dalish clans.

It would be a good start if we saw more than one clan in any game. Perhaps dealt with conflicts between them, and not ones as in yur face as "F*** SHEMS GET HISTORY" clan vs "Humans u r our fRUNDS!!!" clan

People will really slap the 'Mary Sue' title on anyone they don't like these days, won't they...I've seen it used for both Morrigan AND Leliana (and pretty much everyone else) now this past week. It's lost all meaning it may have once had.

She literally comes back from the dead if she dies in origins, and pops in as the right hand of the divine. Don't know what else to call that.

But this isn't about Leliana.

I don't lol ;) Comics though are supposed to be outlandish.

Getting to kill a character only to have them come back from the dead and in such a high position... that to me can only be acceptable in comics or manga.

I hope they go to the elven gods, because they are setting them up to be something interesting.

I agree there isn't much cohesion between Dalish clan we've seen or heard out. in the end each clan is different.

1st we believe that Dalish value mages then we find out at least some clans are willing to abandon a mage child due not willing to teach her despite the fact the Merrill was transferred to a clan that needed a mage.

I think the seperation of each clan just adds to the general sadness of the Dalish fate. I say they should just keep of being a tribes of nomads

As a Stargate SG-1 fan you'd think I'd be used to it, lol. Damn Daniel Jackson.

Nah, the MCU made them cool again. Fastest growing comic reading demographic is women aged 18-35, haha.

Generally speaking, I'm Dalish-neutral.  I do, however, find them considerably more interesting now that the 'eternal victim' has been washed off.  I found the single clan we can interact with a little boring, but there were some bright spots.  The polite hunter who tells you something to the effect that he thinks his people cling too tightly to old hatred, or the Keeper who gives the humans some apology venison are both rather unusual, if understated.  Given how the game could have been called "Dragon Age: Elf Lore Dump", and given that we go to the Dales of all places,  I honestly expected more of a presence from modern elves than a single group of 5-7 people who want you to get herbs and find a lost halla so you can recruit an Agent.  To me, such limited exposure was pretty disappointing.

I suspect those of you invested in the Dalish will get to see them shine and start taking real strides forward (even unrealistic ones) when some of them ally with the rest of Thedas to stop Solas from bringing the elven gods back from wherever it was he locked them in the Fade.  Maybe they'll even get a small plot of land to call their own again, though it seems unlikely to last.  This is Dragon Age, after all.

Edit:  I sincerely doubt a New Arlathan will ever happen.  As for those with the tired old argument that the elves have no where in Thedas to settle, you're right.  However, given that the Dalish carry everything they own with them, there's nothing actually keeping them in Thedas.  Of all the cultures, they're the ones in the best position to find out what really lies beyond the north-western border.  We know there are places out there, and if they can't make any headway where they are, it behooves them to find out what those other places are like.

Or we help Solas accomplish whatever it is he's trying to do and the elves experience a resurgence. Andrastian society is on the verge of collapse in this game- there's no telling what the map will look like next time.

Or they make a place that they can permanently ward against intrusion, perhaps a pocket plane like the Crossroads, and those who want to disappear just do. Abelas is going to search for places that humans haven't touched. Thedas is a big place, he could well find it.

I sincerely doubt that, once Solas does whatever he has planned, anyone is going to consider the Elven gods as beings worthy of veneration or worship. I suspect the elves are in for a serious shock concerning the true nature of their 'gods', and what they really were/did to the general elves of old Arlathan.

We already know that some were evil and some were benevolent. Not going to be that big a revelation to the player, or the Inquisitor either unless she's a complete dolt and not paying attention.

 Hell no, and oddly enough I love him for it. But then SG is also insanely ridiculous.

And I've taken us off topic again, lol. Sorry.

Verge of collapse seems to be overstating it just a bit. If anything, after the inquisition, it seems like for now they're doing just fine.

I could see "verge of collapse" if the Qunari attacked.

I love Solas, but the last time he tried to help the elves, he destroyed their society and reduced them to a scavenging, poverty stricken existence. Then when he tried to fix his mistake, he ended up almost destroying the world because he was a bad judge of character and shared his toys with a bully. He's not exactly who I am pinning any elf hopes on.

LOL, perhaps that's why he doesn't want to get involved in the first place. Good bet, I say.

My thought is hopefully you can talk him out of big world-changing plans and into simply focusing his power on something more manageable. Or, as I've said a few times in the Solas thread, the big world change is already happening and it's left to individual entities like him and Flemythal and our heroes to shape that change. Flemeth, Morrigan and Sandal talk about the impending change like it's inevitable- I don't think Solas is going to bring it about one way or another.

He's the hero Thedas deserves, but not the one it needs right now. So we'll hunt him. Because he can take it. Because he's not our hero. He's a silent guardian, a watchful protector. A dread wolf.
