He's the hero Thedas deserves, but not the one it needs right now. So we'll hunt him. Because he can take it. Because he's not our hero. He's a silent guardian, a watchful protector. A dread wolf.
Win.

Elves didn't hunt wolves- the wolves were their companions and protectors. Until they got domesticated and turned to hounds. The assimilated elves can stay right where they are, if they're happy with it. I'm sure Sera's not interested in Elfy Elfdom. He's the hero Thedas deserves, but not the one it needs right now. Too bad even their own gods have given up on them
Well, at least they're not alone in that.

Yeah yeah, but I'm staying on topic. That's a Batman quote spin, Addai
Is that what you took away from "I should be the one to pay this price but the People need me"?Too bad even their own gods have given up on them
And, y'know... turning his back is pretty much Maker 101. In fact I think Solas is a type of the Maker, assuming he established the Veil, making things real as Cole likes to say. Whether he's the real Maker or not, I won't go so far as to say. I think it might be an archetype for several figures.

I really doubt that. That is quite the stretch.

Especially with what happened in Origins in search of Andraste's ashes. There's more to it than a misrepresentation for other gods, though I don't think the maker is as people think he or it is.

Do you mean Leliana's resurrection? The mountain is a huge heap of lyrium, we heard this from Oghren even in Origins.

Lyrium did it? Come on.
There's that and all the funky stuff that went on there as well. It would be too expected honestly, for there to be no maker. I don't think the maker's the Chantry idea, but not that either. Andraste's ashes and all that wouldn't make a great deal of sense. Being devoted to a figure for several gods rather than a real one like the elves' god. It could even be a god the elves and humans both once shared.

My thought is hopefully you can talk him out of big world-changing plans and into simply focusing his power on something more manageable. Or, as I've said a few times in the Solas thread, the big world change is already happening and it's left to individual entities like him and Flemythal and our heroes to shape that change. Flemeth, Morrigan and Sandal talk about the impending change like it's inevitable- I don't think Solas is going to bring it about one way or another.
Who is the "you" here though? Quizzie? Cuz Solas left. He didn't even bother to tell Quizzie the truth. I suppose he could later, but that would have to be his choice, and I don't think he wants to. And what if Quizzie isn't an elfy elf type?
I think Solas is a very tragic figure. He wants to shape that change and he has the best intentions and a lot of wisdom, but I think some of his blindspots prevent him from making the best possible decisions.

All cultures int thedas have a "creator" in their mythos perhaps these gods are modern incarnations of him
Indeed, which is why I'm pretty sure there was once some sort of creator for at least the beginning concepts of the universe, like time.
Perhaps he was overthrown by what mortals later considered gods.

Sola's may not have given up, but it certainly is difficult for him to get close to people who treat him with fear/superstition. He doesn't consider himself elf like them.

The devs are never going to revel the truth of the Maker at least that is what they said.
It is very likely that a powerful spirit or god/goddess protected the sacred ashes. Perhaps a spirit of faith, or hope, or compassion, or something else. Of course being a polytheist IRL I reject the notion that some monotheistic god has to be ultimatily behind everything.
As for Solas, I am more interested in Lavellan. First how she might react to the news that he is the dread wolf and how might the clan or other clans react to the fact she and him had a romance ![]()

Well its possible that a spirit (of faith) resurrected/healed Leliana given everything we know thus far.

He might not even be an elf really. Sure that's the form he's taken now, but look at Flemeth. I think they're only elven because the elves recognized these beings as gods and the others did not. Another reason why I think the original "maker" might've been overthrown. Maybe he wasn't such a nice cat.

If it is a spirit of faith, it could even be Andraste's spirit herself.
