I absolutely loathe this place.  Please tell me that I can skip it entirely?  I have no idea how this level got approved for final product, this is by far the worst level to navigate, it literally gives me a headache.  This place makes me want to punch a baby.

Such a shame to see all those shards go to waste.  I refuse to put in anymore time in this abortion of a level to get these damn shards.

Do the other levels get any worse than this place?

Forbidden Oasis is actually one of the easiest maps to navigate, its small and takes only a modicum of effort to learn where the different paths and tunnels lead. I cleared the entire map except the temple in just a couple hours. If you insist though, the Forbidden Oasis is indeed skippable, though if you're going to skip, you might as well stop shard hunting altogether, since the place where the shards are used is in the Oasis.

You know just because you are unable to orientate yourself in it doesn't mean that it was poorly designed.

I love the Forbidden Oasis, it is so pretty. Personally didn't find it hard to navigate but you can skip it if you want. Just don't bother collecting any shards from anywhere.

You can absolutely skip it.  I've never been there, I gather it's tied into the whole shard collection thing that I abandoned as utterly tedious very soon?

I'm wishing that I'd realized what the shards were for earlier in the game.  Explored the Oasis but didn't find the temple until I got the reveal map perk around level 16 or 17.

I don't remember the exact name, but its one of Leileana's.  Shows locations of most of the regular things on the map you may not have found yet.

You're crazy. The desert environments are the best in the game. I like to imagine Iron Bull gives my Inquisitor swimming lessons in that oasis.

Fallow Marsh is what you meant to say... that place sucks so much.

This is one gets my vote for worst area as well. Outside of smacking an Avvar around there doesn't seem to be much else to do.

My first playthrough I hated Fallow Mire too, but the second time through it wasn't so bad because I kept to dry land at all times, so I had to fight only minimal spawning corpses.  I also found out that the dead bodies with Loot on them is just a Diseased Tissue 99 times out of a 100 so I shut down my inner OCD and stopped going into the water to loot them.

I agree Forbidden Oasis is horrible.  It's fine once you learn the lay of the land the same way calculus is easy once you learn it--as in, yes it IS easy when that happens but the complaint is about the PROCESS.

Yeah, one early mission, and then no reason to ever really go back.

Seems kind of like a waste but I guess the change of scenery is nice. If you like rain and walking dead that is  ;)

I agree. I wasn't overly thrilled about it. The level design was so unnecessarily awkward.

Thankfully, it's not required by the story. However, if you're going after the shards, you will need to visit the Oasis at least once during a playthrough.

It annoyed me at first but I got the hang of it. You can skip it if you want, but if you spend some time learning the terrain, it'll probably get easier.

The shard quest drove me crazy here, but I in the end i managed to find all. Not a great map imo. I wonder what I'll get if I find all the shards and unlock all the doors at the temple.

Same here. It sure would have been nice to know :(

Oh, I had a short nervous breakdown finding my way to all shards, but on my second visit ... it took me much less time :D

Well, once you get a hang of it you can enjoy the scenery, its beautiful. And the map isn't that big either, just like the Fallow Marches - which I liked as well. A bit like playing a variation of "don't touch the floor its on fire" some might have as kids. Liked it. I also like rain, and undead. And old ruined castles. Yeah... B)

I hated it the first time I went in, it was a game where I had waited a while to visit (in terms of the game plot) and the zone was more populated.  Next game, I went ASAP and the zone is less populated.  Its a very different feel and I like the latter state works better.  I took the time to explore the zone fully and found some areas I missed the first time and got a much better feel for the zone.  It was still tedious to get all 15 shards but, it was less painful than the first time.

They really need to let you fast travel to the temple though.

I was very confused in this map as well. I horse jumped my way to a bunch of the shards (certainly not the way the devs intended it).

I have a hang of the level now and know what caves lead where, but at first it was frustrating.

The only thing bad about Forbidden Oasis was the bug that made the wandering miner despawn and made me run around for an hour trying to find her when I should have just reloaded the area.
