Was playing this area last night.  Found it quite difficult to make my way to some of the shards (and one in particular just about tipped me over the edge - still haven't got it).

But it is not 'an abortion' of a level.  Ignoring the subtext in that description, it is a beautiful area - like all of them - and it makes sense for there to be not as much to do in an abandoned desert mining facility.

So, I like it, but it is difficult finding your way around to some locations within the map.

While I am not a fan of Jumping Lemming Puzzles, this area was not the worst as it is meant to be climbed, scaled, hiked, etc. The other locations with loot placed high atop elevated surfaces bothers me more, as it seems unlikely the opponents would keep their valuables there, and the treasure is usually only worthy of sale; not good enough to keep.

That said, I can skip the Jumping puzzles (pun intended), and am not complaining about there being too much content.

If you miss that tunnel first time around, Forbidden Oasis is a nightmare.

Also, those corrupted spiders hit really really hard when you're only level 8.  Swarming in the dark like that is really unfair.

I remember the first time doing this map. I was all like "great this map looks small, it wont take me awhile finishing it" Oh how wrong was I -_-  finished it longer than I should have and almost got frustrated.

Fallow Marsh is what you meant to say... that place sucks so much.

I actually enoyed the Fallow Marsh.  Not necessarily the quests (or lack of quests), but the environment.  It really captured the swamp environment perfectly.  I just wish it was more fleshed out, instead of the extra desert maps.

You can absolutely skip it.  I've never been there, I gather it's tied into the whole shard collection thing that I abandoned as utterly tedious very soon?

You missed out.

First Open world problems.

The really frustrating part after all the running in circles is finding out how ridiculously close to camp the temple is.

Aw, really? You can't figure out tunnels and cliffs? This isn't a fault of the game designers: This is just you being dumb. No offense, but I don't know how else to say it. it isn't confusing, try harder instead of whining and giving up. Because that's all you've done so far.

What I found worked best for me there was to get up high, use the quest marker to show where I wanted to go, and study the surrounding terrain to find the correct path. Once I started doing that, getting to shards went much faster. Now I just need that stupid miner to spawn so I can get the key.....she disappeared while I was fighting the giant (and the tree that kept blocking my view) and hasn't been back since. I hope the giant didn't squish her.....

Yeah.  The wandering NPC quest giver there is the worst.  Doesn't help that she often bugs out.

Too jumpy and runny and platformy. Feels more like a level than a map. All the ladders - I expected Donkey Kong at the end of the level.

Those of you saying that it's so easy to navigate the map and that you must be stupid not to be able to... uhm, could you give us stupid ones some pointers please? I've been to the place across four different characters now, and while I can find the temple easily enough (go to the oasis camp, at the back of the oasis is a tunnel upwards), I can't navigate the rest of the place. I love the region (I love ALL the desert regions) but it's a maze. All tunnels look the same and the quest map is of no use since the place is very vertical and full of tunnels. I take one and am always surprised where I end up.

Any advice? Or is there a good map that shows the tunnels and various entrances?

They say the enemy range is from 8+. I think I ended up there around level 9 and had no issues.

is that the desert place for the solasan temple? if so then screw that place. i tried to give it a chance but the ground levels and vastness of it made me quit the area @_@ i remember two desert places, one for the crazy dragon scientist, and the other for the temple with all of those ups and downs, loops and twists

It's the worst zone in the game. They could've just put that temple in the Western Approach and the game would have been much better for it.
