This is my second play through and I have decided to side with the Templars. When I sided with the Mages in my first playthrough Fiona showed up in Skyhold in my library and remained there. Ser Barris, on the other hand, appears to be nowhere in Skyhold. Is that normal or am I missing something?

He doesn't show up in Skyhold, unfortunately. But you can send him out on multiple missions via the war table that he kicks ass in and you can do something a little special for him later on if you fully allied with the templars.

Indeed.
Complete his war table missions and you can bring him to Skyhold and promote him. Though be warned that the trigger for this is rather bugged right now.

I heard you can still do something little special for him even if you conscript the Templars.

What exactly do you mean by "something special" for him? He isn't available for me to use at the War Table yet, unless his mission is under some secret name?

Yes, he gets promoted to Knight-Captain of the Inquisition's Templars.
I had it happen in my playthrough after completing all of his war table missions. His promotion was probably my favorite of the judgement scenes.

He died in my playthrough.
I'm guessing it's because I let the status of that room get too low while I was looking for the lyrium and leiutenants. Anyone know? (Although I don't think I ever let the bar get lower than 25% maybe. But he did complain about being wounded at one point.)

So, I'll never get them then? I'm at Skyhold - even finished Crestwood.
Still don't have 'em.
It's pretty upsetting. Should I replay "In your heart shall burn"? - I did a few times already and still never got it. Barris IS listed as an agent btw.
