Huzzah! Our saviour and guardian angel Anita Sarkeesian has released a pitch for a game to be made that promotes equality and empowerment of women!

 

 

She also has an advisory role on the new Mirrors Edge game as well, but are there any other games that are more progressive in their views of equality? The Dragon Age series has always been a champion for the cause being a game written by women for women but what else?

 

Dreamfall the Longest Journey also has a very progressive stance on equality as well, of the 3 playable characters 2 are women and the only male (who works for an idyllic society ruled by women and is on a mission to convert the heathens and overthrow the patriarchy in less progressive and primitive lands) has an extremely progressive view on equality as seen in the video below.

Are there any other games with strong female leads though? Any other games that take a progressive stance on equality?

Most games tend to just be you know games. They write the thing they want to write and try not to make some message about equality.

 

On the game by Anita meh it sounds kinda generic. Ooh wow an evil faceless council. That's up there with Nazis, PMC's, Dragons and Zombies for random antagonists.

Edit: I'll never understand how games like Asteroids, Tetris, Marble Madness, and pretty much the first 15 years of video games were somehow "anti-equality," but I'm just dumb like that.
