My desire is simple
I want my dog
if for no other reason then to just have someone that you can interact with in skyhold that is always happy to see you and play

That really shows how weak the team behavior is!
You can always buy EA's Sims 3 Pets.
I don't want pets in my games.
Summoning the mabari was quite handy in 2
This is one of the biggest let downs of inquisition! The mabari are awesome.
To be honest I don't want the mabari added arbitrarily, largely because there is no story reason for the Inquisitor to desire one. No matter what you play as, your character is not from Ferelden.
I wish we could adopt that merchant's dog, since the merchant is probably dead now.
im glad they got rido of the mabari there ugly dogs yuck.
Better than those dumb ponies you love so much.

lol was about to say the same thing
Its almost like BioWare ran a "Corrupt a Wish" event when they where creating DA:I
Mabari Fans: Can we have Mabari in DA:I?
BioWare: Yes, but they are enemies that you kill for crafting materials. We even put in a whimpering howl when you kill them just so you know that the mabari is dead.

I'm surprised they didn't put one in. I thought they were like tradition.

Anders disapproves!
Actually, in Skyrim, I never wanted to take pets or my horses anywhere because I don't want them to get killed. (I have horses and farm animals in real life, all of them pets, and no way would I put them in harm's way). I also used a mod so they can't be killed but I don't even like to see my pretend animals attacked. ![]()

They must plan on selling it as DLC down the road.

That was my assumption. I guess the DA2 mabari came in DLC too, but I think that was free day 1 DLC for new copies?

no story reason to desire a war hound...
I can think of several reasons a WAR hound could be useful!
No real narrative reason for, say. the Qunari Inquisitor to have a Mabari but Hawke could/should have brought his/her's along to Skyhold/Crestwood, etc. I reckon.
Mabari could be easily be included into the narrative for the same reason you can recruit A Horse/Stable Master, why not a Kennel Master as well, the game should give you a pet 'slot' and the Kennels should be a place to buy pets.

They certainly should be!
i want a cat, nug, a regular dog, or fennec (i think thats what they are called )
I want my dog back! I miss Ntwadumela, He Who Greets With Fire.
They could of made it a gift from someone like Dennet, or someone you helped in the Hinterlands. So that way it gives you a logic reason to own one. Like they did with the Orlesian Warden Commander in Witch Hunt DLC. Teryn Fergus Cousland could of presented another one instead of a sword I never use.
Doesn't make a lot of sense, seeing as your Inquisitor;
1. didn't heal the sick dog in Ostagar
2. didn't save one during your return to Ostagar
3. didn't bring it over from your house in Lothering
adding it to the game would just be obvious pandering.

Neither did the Orlesian Warden Commander or HoF who didn't save the dog in Ostagar. He still got one from Fergus in Witchunt.
