Cole is the least interesting character for me with Sera as a runner-up. I could play through the game all the way through without Cole and not miss a thing. Blackwall has been a constant party member since I first recruited him, and while I felt really disappointed in him after the twist I still think his character arc is incredibly moving. Especially with the character banter afterwards, and everyone is hating on him and then... Solas apologizes and forgives him out of the blue. Good writing I say! :)

Kinda found Solas to be a little bit of a hypocrite when he was rude to Blackwall, but I still love them both.

Sera, it's painful to interact with her. I see Blackwell getting a lot of hate on here, which is a shame, he is you're hardened warden who you can tell has way more to him then you get to see through interacting with him.

I could say Vivienne because I can barely stand her... but I think I should say Blackwall because bored and unimpressed is a worse reaction when it comes to characters.

Dorian was way too arrogant and not the least bit charming as he's played out to be. I ended up liking most of the characters throughout the game, but Dorian was just disappointment after disappointment.

My least favorites are probably Vivienne, an ambitious snake, and Sera, a petty and ignorant character who choses to stay that way. I rarely take either of them out into the field with me.

Blackwall for me. I tend to forget he's there. He just doesn't grab my attention. In fact, my basic party is pretty much the one you get at the beginning of the game- Varric, Cass and Solas, occasionally switching in Viv or Dorian, both of whom I really like too.

So yeah, I struggle to find time or sympathy for Blackwall. Sera was close for a while. I really struggled with her character, nothing I did could make her like my Inquisitor but then things picked up towards the end of the game and when she admitted to my Inquisitor that she hated learning life lessons but thanked my Inquisitor I felt pretty proud of her

Least favorite would either be Vivienne or Blackwall.

Blackwall wouldn't make this list if I hadn't done his personal quest. Vivienne was just that wonderfully done jerk character that you love to hate, and she does have some endearing moments.

Yeah, minus the whole "Warden" part. . Dude is basically doing cosplay the whole game -- LOL!

I do not even really hate the guy, I mostly feel bad for him, but when I recruit the full set of companions (or close), I literally forget he exists. Overshadowed by all the other great characters, and tucked away in the stables. "Out of sight, out of mind."

I hate the term "least favorite" as it implies - to me, at least - that they're still a favorite. That I still like them, just less so than the others.

I don't have "least favorites". I have companions I like and companions I actively dislike. And a couple I'm neutral on.

As for what companions I actively dislike in DAI, those would be Cole and Vivienne.

I dislike Cole because his very nature is to mind rape people and the game bends over backwards to make me ok with that, and I am not ok with that.

I dislike Vivienne because there's little in the way of balance to her character. With Morrigan and Velana, there were plenty of times people got one over on them in party banter and story wise, there were plenty of times they didn't come out on top. That balancing made the vitriol in their characters more tolerable and let me appreciate the positives.

With Vivienne, no one ever really gets one up over on her. Solas and Dorian are able to spar more or less evenly with her, but she has the edge on them. Sera can't hold a candle to her. Iron Bull's a submissive little puppy to her. Varric's not much better. Only one I've heard get one slightly over on her is Blackwall, and that's only if he's being romanced, and it was hardly anything. Cole manages to get under her skin but that feeds into my reasons for disliking Cole because his "one up" on her is revealing that she actually cares about him as a team member, because no one is allowed to hate Cole forever.

Of course, some will point to Vivienne's storyline quest as a point where things didn't go her way; I'd counter with the follow up scene where she meets with her lover's sister and son where, if you take the hardline path with her, she drops any remorseful posturing and seems absolutely over joyed that Bastien's death and the Inquisitor's help have allowed her to elevate her position by securing alliances among the Grand Clerics and Council of Heralds, to the point where it's a perfectly valid interpretation that she poisoned the guy herself - not saying that is what happened, just that the scene could be interpreted that way.

So that lack of counter point to Vivienne's supreme arrogance and hostility prevented me from liking her at all, even if I agree with some of her political points and can appreciate the view point she brings to the game.

I mean, not really? At least not yet. If you're referring to the part with...

Spoiler

What repercussions there may be are entirely speculative at this point. I drank from the Well just to see Morrigan throw a hissy fit for not getting her way for once.

Less the Kieran thing than that

Spoiler

Either way she has a line after emerging from the eluvian where she basically admits she was wrong. So it does seem like her not getting exactly what she wants is a pretty fixed plot point in the game.

LOL, Blackwall and Sera are two of my favourites, 'team common as muck', 'team get the stick out of your asses' 'team sticking it to the man (or woman as the case may be)'.

I really wanted to like Vivienne because she does bring a unique view to the mage/Templar situation, but whilst initially I liked her condescending tones, I grew weary of it pretty quick. It's really not much fun talking to her and her banter is hard to take.

Blackwall. I just found him kind of boring and would have to remind myself to go talk to him. Outside of companions it would be Fiona. She is an idiot.

Don't really dislike any of the characters so far. In no small part because I follow the creed of "Never trust a first impression", and it proved accurate this time around too for the characters that I initially reacted negatively to, or found uninteresting.

I found Sera annoying and hard to understand at first, but once I started to understand her better (turning on subtitles helped, as did learning her terminology) she grew on me. She does have some very blind spots, but she's a lot more perceptive than she seems and has a spy network that almost rivals Varrics or Lelianas.

Likewise I also found Vivienne's snobby attitude grating at first, but once I learned more about her I really liked that she didn't just expect others to shape up, get polished until they shine and obey her commands while she just reaps the benefits without lifting a finger- she holds herself to the same or higher standards as well. She's also incredibly competent at what she does (in both The Game and magic) and I respect that.

If you haven't heard her banter with Dorian yet I can recommend it. Best verbal fencing I've heard in a long time.

I haven't gotten very far with Blackwall ingame so I haven't done his personal quest, but with the spoilers I've read/heard I find him intriguing, if for more meta reasons.

The fact that he uses a lie to atone for what he's done rather than going straight and actually join the Wardens or something similar is a flaw I haven't come across too many times before.

Cassandra correctly points out that trying to atone behind a lie is just another mistake and not to his credit, but his flaws also gives him more variety in how his character can grow. I look forward to see what happens with him, and not just in Inquisition.

The other characters I pretty much liked from the start anyway so there was never any potential dislike issues.

I strongly dislike Vivienne. My Inquisitor and Viv almost always argue when they talk. And Sera is just confusing and it's hard to understand what she is saying.

My favorite character is Blackwall because he is such an honorable man. Which makes him regret his past sins.

Dorian and Varric are my other favorite characters. I like Dorian because he reminds me of the King of Thieves and actor who played in the Hercules show in the 90's (with Kevin Sorebo).

Its a tie between Cole and Blackwall for me.

Cole just blabs on and on and on like Thane on a 24/7 flashback, and even for someone who likes dialogue I just want him to shut up already. 'Hot...searing pain...dying...get on with it!'

Blackwall is just flat out dull and boring. Occasional good lines and an interesting plot twist, but overall he feels like a random stranger who hopped along for the ride.

Irony is both are excellent gameplay wise. Black walls a phenomenal tank and when Cole isn't dying he actually can do some serious damage.

Leading up to the release, i was sure I'd hate Sera and Vivienne. I was half right, because Vivienne is about as unlikable as a character can get.

Love Sera tho. Shame my thing isn't her thing, stole my heart that one......

No one blow up a chantry this time around so I'm good with most of them.

Blackwall is somewhat uninteresting to me personally, but that doesn't mean he's unlikable, just interesting which isn't much of a negative. Sera... is complicated. She's stupid and intolerant, but there are moments were she recognizes that she's full of crap and I honestly think that if she manages to live long enough she'll eventually grow out of it. Hopefully. Vivienne is a condescending female-dog that bothers me because I just feel so infer in her presence.

Flemeth through really annoyed the hell out of me this time around. I was seriously yelling at my television screen hoping that she'd just tell me what the hell was mysterious plan and who the heck she wanted revenge on. I mean come on lady just get to the bloody point already!

Solas, actually.
I was okay with him in the beginning, but there were things he did and said that really irked me.

Everyone else, I positively enjoy.
