Also throwing Bianca Davri on the list.

She's ten times the smith Branka was, she's a better marksman than Varric, she's completely invaluable to the merchant's guild, she's the one who figured out red lyrium was blighted, she's snarky, she's tough enough to threaten to feed the inquisitor their own eyeballs with no repercussions at all.

Bioware did everything short of having a neon sign appear over this woman's head that read "OMG, GUYS, ISN'T SHE AWESOME?! CAN'T YOU SEE WHY VARRIC CAN NEVER LOVE YOU WHEN SHE IS SO PERFECT?! EVEN HER FUCKUPS HELP YOU OUT! FOR SERIOUS, GUYS, SHE'S AMAZING!"

Seriously, I'm not even a varricmancer and I found that **** to be laid on way too thick.

Oh, and to top it all off, her plotline has no resolution to it.

Also the triteness of her blatantly preferring Varric and even sneaking off to see him regularly. That crap pissed me off. Varric's deal with Bianca was literally the only non Gary Stu thing about him, yet rather than going somewhere interesting with like, like perhaps Bianca never even reciprocated his feelings but he still can't get over it, they make it abundantly clear that they're essentially couple but can't be together for because of some shakily reasoned family crap.

Yea, I didn't even begin to get into how contrived that damn "They love each other but can't be together" bull is.

Thiiiis.

So upsetting. Was hoping there would at least be a good reason I couldn't have Varric as an LI, not an annoying, ****** reason.

Iron Bull. Actually I think half the reason I dislike him is because majority of people LOVE him. I don't get it.

Sera and Vivienne, however I still like them as characters, if that makes sense. Bioware's mastery of characters at work.

The answer is simple.

Now now, that would depend on what the other half of his reason is.

I'm a fan, but I can still admit it's probably because he's the typical "fun dudebro". Lots of people like those characters, but some find them obnoxious or are sick of the type.

Fiend, for the most part I agree with you on a lot of things. But this one time about the Varric and Bianca-mance... I'll have to pass having been in a similar relationship myself. And it sucks. Varric's feeling pain right now. He just does a good job of not showing it.

I've been there, myself, in fact. Which I think is part of the reason I dislike the whole mess, really; hits a little close to home.

But really, I suppose my problem with it is that they went overboard in trying to justify why Varric can't get over her by trying to make her too perfect of a character while at the same time missing all the notes with her character to make her in any way likeable.

Maybe that's part of the point, I suppose. I certainly felt the woman I was hooked up on was perfect. She wasn't, not by a long shot. But she was likeable. So that's where they lost me with this, I think. If they had made Bianca flawed but genuinely likeable as a person, I might relate more to it.

That also feeds into the "no resolution" aspect of it. Eventually, with the help of my friends, I was able to get out of my funk and move on. There's no option to tell Varric that he needs to get on with his life. Even if it didn't work, I would have liked the chance to start pushing him down that path.

Tie between Sera and Blackwall.

With Sera, I felt like nothing I did pleased her. That's okay; I also rarely pleased Vivienne but I liked her character. I don't know why Sera rubbed me the wrong way. Perhaps she felt a little too "one note" to me. I think she said the words "little people" 100 times! And though she looked mid-20s, she acted 15. That was very, very odd.

With Blackwall, I just was unable to connect with him at all. He never warmed to me, never seemed to care for me one way or the other, even despite having high approval. He was just there. I don't think I ever had a cut scene conversation with him until his personal quest... if I did, I forgot it.

I just really despised the lack of cut scenes when talking to companions. It was very Skyrim-y. So... impersonal.

Vivienne would be top of the list, then Sera, then Blackwall.

You forget to mention that she's also voiced by none other than Laura Bailey.

Her voice melts my heart

But seriously guys, Corypheus. If I have to list the top 100 lamest characters in DA:I, his name is what I will use for number 1 to 99, no question asked. Such a lame, lame, lame, cliched, boring, tepid, useless villain.

Bailey did a fine job, no denying that. But it's not nearly enough to make me like the character.

Contrast Corypheus, who's my second favorite DA antagonist behind the Arishok, based almost entirely on his dialogue and delivery.

Sera, partly because her behavior isn't very well-explained. It's like a particularly violent 5-year-old found her way into an adult elf's body somehow. And I don't find her banter with the other companions all that amusing, just irritating, like when Solas speaks to her in an elven language and she responds with "ppppllllttt."

Delivery is a good word to use because he seems to have all the passion and conviction of a guy ordering a pizza.  Increase gain on the sound files does not equal increased charisma.  It just means I take the headphones off until he gets to the extra anchovies.

You know, there is nothing I could say that would make you change your mind, and frankly I don't care to change your mind. Your opinion is your opinion.

For me, I felt his even delivery of the lines was chilling, and I found the dialogue itself to be very poetic.

At the start of the game i would have said Blackwall, but without wanting to get into spoilers he improves MASSIVELY over the course of the game. I was fairly impressed wtih his char dev actually.

I dislike Sera and idnd't recruit her this time.
