It is possible for this conversation to trigger with Loghain or Alistair.  You just have to do things in a specific order.  I am currently working on setting it up for Loghain.  I went to Crestwood with Hawke to meet her Warden contact.  Followed the quest enough for the Warden to be back at Skyhold.  I am going to do the Ball before going to Adamant.

The scene with Morrigan, the Warden, and Kieran doesn't always trigger right away.  You might have to go out and do some quests and come back until it triggers.  But it is possible.

Thank you very much for the report!  :)

Ok so, let me get this straight. You MUST do wicked eyes, wicked hearts first before you even meet Alistair? I met Hawke and Alistair in Crestwood and then went to the Western Approach, I'm holding off on Adamant fortress untill after the ball, cuz i know Morrigan must be at Skyhold when Alistair is. But after meeting Alistair and asking him about HoF I went back to Skyhold and found him on the battlements. Did I mess up already? By meeting Hawke and Alistair before the ball...idk if Alistair is still at Skyhold tho, I haven't checked recently :/

No that's fine.  I am fairly certain the only thing you must do is the Ball before Adamant.  It's just a matter of time after Morrigan arrives.  Best thing to do is go do some other quests and check back in the garden until it triggers.

Ok good cuz I made a new character with Alistair as a Grey Warden who did dark ritual just to see this play out, I would've been a little perturbed if I remade my character and world state just to mess up half way thru lol :P whew

I waited for a while before giving up and going to Adamant and it never happened. I did some quests, traveled all over the place, came back to Skyhold multiple times. It never triggered.

This is how I feel about it not being in the game... whether or not it was cut or is bugged is besides the point.

Maker's breath, did I just hear Morrigan refer to Alistair a good man? This was simply beautiful to listen to :)

Lawd, the one where Alistair is his father gave me serious feels. That's my canon, wish I could have gotten something like it.

Too bad my Alistair is King. And that this was cut.

I've done the ball before Adamant and never had Loghain show up and talk to Morrigan, though at the same time, Loghain wasn't Kieran's father in that playthrough.

Though Threnn did mention Loghain apparently did show up at Skyhold at some point; they spoke, he remembered her and knew her name, which was a bit of a heartwarming moment for her.

I still never saw him, though.

He's where Varric introduces you to Hawke.

So much stuff I wanted to see.  Like Fiona talking to Alistair.  Or Alistair finding out he's elfblooded.

But, yes, Alistair talking about Kieran as his son is amazing.  You can hear it in his voice, even though he's saying "tentacles" he's thinking "my boy."

Gaider talked as if he expected this to still be in the game in another thread, I hoep it's supposed to be.

Just listening to the dialogue is beyond magnificent, it's everything I would have hoped for in a cameo of this sort; soft, still, respectful.

That video is sweet and sad at the same time... I like the effect having a child has on Morrigan. The part where she asks if Alistair knows where the Warden is, you can just hear the hope and eagerness in her voice. It's so well done.

I wish Loghain  had a comment on a Kieran that was fathered by the Warden.

I can confirm that this content is not cut. In order to get these conversations, you have to do the following:

  1. Go to Crestwood and meet with Hawke's "Warden friend".
  2. Put Here Lies the Abyss on hold and complete Wicked Eyes and Wicked Hearts.
  3. Alistair/Loghain and Morrigan will now both be at Skyhold.
  4. Wander around, maybe do some side quests or war table missions, save/reload... eventually Alistair/Loghain will show up in the garden with Morrigan.
  5. Proceed to listen to their ambient conversation.

I did this with my save state where Morrigan had a regular human child with my Warden and got her "I could have had them both" conversation.

The only other thing I know I did that might have affected it was exhaust Alistair and Morrigan's conversation options. I talked with Alistair and exhausted all his conversation options when I found him in Crestwood, and I talked to and exhausted all of Morrigan's conversation options when I returned to Skyhold after Wicked Eyes and Wicked Hearts. If you haven't already talked with both of them, try that.

If that still doesn't work, try finishing some side quests or clearing out an area/zone you haven't done yet. Save/reload, leave Skyhold and come back, use the teleport pyramid thingy to go straight to the garden, maybe even try jumping into the garden from the battlements like I did. Double check that your world state meets one of the conditions for them to have a conversation as well.

If you still can't get it to trigger no matter what, then it's possible it might be bugged. I can just say for sure that it is in the game and not cut content.

My understanding is that it happens (or is supposed to happen) if you go to Morrigan's spot in Skyhold in the brief period after meeting Hawke's "Warden contact" but before going on to Adamant (provided you'd already completed the Wicked Eyes & Wicked Hearts plot first).

I remember seeing this in the days leading up to release -- Brianne tested it out, as I recall -- so I'd be surprised if it'd been cut. Less surprised if there's some other issue involved, however.

That's currently exactly where I was planning on testing the trigger next, so that's good to know.

I have them both in Skyhold and nothing has triggered yet. I haven't had any conversation bugs so I'm not sure on this one...

Nice that there is a reference to a Warden who romanced Morrigan but decided to not go in the Eluvian with her since the romance content is nonexisting with her if you didn't go into the Eluvian with her.

Ack, Loghain's in there too. *cries*

Very nice. All of Morrigan's interactions in DAI were great.

I can also confirm this is in the game - recorded this tonight.

I did Here lies the Abyss up until Adamant Operation was available

Did Wicked Hearts

Talked to Morrigan at Skyhold

Went to Crestwood for all of 2 seconds and then came back to Skyhold

Went immediately to the garden and it happened.

Edit - did this on Xbox One

Yes because ten years and a son should not change her in any way at all.

She said "would have" implying that she wanted him there at the time even though what actually happened is she said she didn't. If they mean to show that she's changed her mind, she would have said something like "I didn't want him there then, but now I wish I hadn't said that" or "I wish I had been able to consult him. I did not have to end it that way."

EDIT: Yep, definitely said "Would have preferred" and with some irritation.

Must have been terribly difficult for a woman as stuck up as her (even after all the growing up).
