I am doing a Nightmare playthrough.

Yesterday I messed with the mouse setting, didn't like the change, and then hit the "Reset" button in that menu. Then I slayed the Fereldan Frostback.

I took a screenshot of the corpse and then went into the gameplay options to take a screenshot of the Nightmare difficulty setting. Only it didn't say "Nightmare", it said "Normal".

I was none too pleased, BioWare.

I have confirmed that hitting "Reset" in the controls menu will affect the difficulty setting in the gameplay menu. This is a disastrous bug that has the potential to ruin someone's attempt to get the Nightmare achievement.

I have reloaded a previous save that still has Nightmare in the gameplay setting, so hopefully the game won't think that I lowered the difficulty and deny me the achievement. Still, I have to fight the dragon battle all over again. What a terrible inconvenience.

Please patch this bug and any others right away.

I noticed this also, changing difficulty seems to have no effect with Dragons, but having them reset after you kill them is a bigger issue.

And this is why make multiple save files and save often.

The problem is, the game gave me the Wyrmslayer achievement. Will this record my game as having beaten the dragon on Normal and thus screw me out of the Inquisitor achievement even though I deleted those bad saves and reloaded the Nightmare save?

Hard to say, especially if its a profile save issue -every save after a profile save is affected.  I haven't taken the time to look at their structures, except in some bugs. Pretty sure only milestones trigger a profile save, been a while since I looked at it.  I just got Dragon hunter and I've not a clue where the last dragon is, one is in the hissing plains where I have a broken quest it's likely to be problemattic.

In any event, deleting corrupt saves is about all you can do w/o a tool.

But you clicked the Reset Setting button and it did also reset the difficulty setting, how's that a bug?

Because the "reset" I clicked was in a completely unrelated category of the menu. I was in the "Control" or "Interface" (can't remember the exact name of it) section that deals with the mouse cursor speed. The difficulty setting is in the gameplay menu. So hitting reset in the interface settings should have no effect whatsoever on any other thing in the other sections.

For example, I set my graphics settings at the highest possible. None of those settings were reset. The difficulty setting should not have been changed either.

And yes b10b1v, I deleted the bad save as well as the annoying autosaves and the milestone save. Hopefully beating the dragon on Nightmare overwrites this in the profile.

I remember Origins had a bad glitch involving the ogre in Darkspawn Chronicles. If it died at all, it would affect the entire game and any game after that, basically marking the achievement as failed forever.

Oh, yes they should have put the difficulty setting on a separate category. I didn't even risk going in the options menu a single time on my nightmare run to avoid changing it by mistake

I wouldn't have gone in there either except I just got a new 4K TV and the cursor on such a huge screen is hard to control when even the slightest touch sends it 6 inches past the tiny arrow button you're trying to click in the inventory screen and such.

Which reminds me, while I'm here...

I see the Display settings allow for 2160 x whatever, but then the hz drops to 25. Can this be patched to allow for the 240hz that 4Ks are capable of? That'd be greaaaaaaat.

I believe the refresh rate is limited by your video card

Better drop everything and get right on this BW, we have a frowny face emote in play!

An ANGRY frowny face emote.

As for the hz level, that's impossible. I have the best tested graphics card on the market. Also, it plays 1080p on 60hz just fine, so 2160p on 60hz shouldn't be a problem either. My custom rig is well over the recommended specs for Inquisition.

It's not a bug. It's a poor design decision.

And this is why make multiple save files and save often.

If you reloaded a save from before you changed the difficulty and continued on Nightmare from that save, when you finish the game, you should still get the Inquisitor achievement.

Really? Some inconsequential little achievement is worth this outrage and demands to be fixed? You don't even get anything tangible from it.

There are tons of more important stuff to look at first.

A menu "reset" changing the settings of an unrelated menu seems like a very important problem worth fixing to me.

Fragment about the GTX 970 "the card can output resolutions up to 4,096x2,160 at 60Hz through the DisplayPort output, and up to 4,096x2,160 at 24Hz or 3,840x2,160 at 60Hz through the HDMI port"

Don't know if that's exactly your model, but this seems to be your problem

That might be related. I am using an HDMI cable, so yeah, maybe.
