Never understood the point of getting all dialogue perks on one character. My cousin plays like that too. Why would a Cadash enforcer know about arcane matters? Or a Levallan First know about human nobility?

Always thought those were there to add flavor to your different backgrounds.

Because you get a whopping 150 xp per codex if you do. That alone is worth it. (you have any idea just how many there are in the game? That's levels worth of xp just from codex entries)

That and I never play ignorant characters :P

Agreed. Imo human mage has no claim for trevelyan house since they grew in circle so they can't have nobility knowledge. Just history and magic. For my thuggish elf I plan to get the battle dialogue one exclusively.

Yes, I used to be a Carta street thug and lyrium smuggler. Let's have a seat and discuss my latest theorem of how Ancient Elvhen magic draws from a separate source than contemporary magic over a cup of Qunari tea.

You're surrounded by experts. Leliana, Josephine and Cullen could teach you about secrets, forces and nobility, that only leaves that.. eh... other thing for yourself to discover.

Because as a leader of the Inquisition it's a good idea to have knowledge on multiple subject matters?

That's why my lady Qunari took all the perks.

She learned them from the respective advisor (imaging poor Leliana trying to cram arcane knowledge in her head is lulzy) so she could better lead the Inquisition.

Conversation extras are nice, but you can also increase your carrying capacity as well. In the Inquisition perk set.

I see the perks as education I learn from each of my advisors and they give me extra conversations from various people. I don't like missing any conversations. I also like to get all the agents I can get and this way, I don't need a specific companion with me to get each agent.

...Personally I like the first option in each tree, the Arcane/Underworld/History/Nobility Knowledge perks.  ...

...After that I get More Potions, Deft Hands Deft Tools, and Forward Scouts as soon as I can.

Pretty much this, then the focus tree.

I spend any spare money on influence perks from the merchant.

That's why I've yet to get all four on any character.

But when I do my human warrior sometime next year I've figured a proper way that the character can get all them and it not be out of character.  Noble perk because well noble, history/chantry because religious, underground because spent sometime in a merc group while late teen early 20, and magic because he studied it once he received the anchor wanting to better understand his situation.

My current Dalish mage, has no logical reason to pick up the underground or nobility perk so she doesn't have them.

I had a lot of extra money so I bought more influence from the merchant, whenever I had more money to spend.

Some perks add some stuff to Skyhold ,not ground breaking stuff ...

You can get a useless vault filed with gold , I like to swin in gold even when my Inquisition has 100 coins in his pocket.

Also the extra research in secrets gets you a npc , he gives you a quest. It's also pretty useless , but I enjoy hearing him complain about books.

I wonder if some perks change something in the small library filled with cobweb , I still haven't figured out what's the point of that place.

I must be strange, because I only take the dialogue perks that make sense for my character to have. My Dalish gets Arcane Knowledge but not Nobility Knowledge, for instance. I see it as a roleplaying thing. edit- ninja'ed

The schematics were kind of a disappointment since you don't get many and it was stuff I didn't really want.

Since each perk is associated with an adviser, I assumed the Inquisitor gets special tutoring from the adviser on such matters. Like my Dalish rogue would realize that she's going to be attending the ball at Halamshiral, and would probably ask Josie on instruction on court etiquette and protocol.

That being said, it would be nice if your character automatically got a dialogue perk depending on their background. All mages get Arcane knowledge, all Cadashes (criminals), non-mage Lavellans (they're supposed to be spies after all) and non-mage Adaars (mercs) get Underground, all non-mage Trevelyans get Nobilty.

if you play as rogue go for deft hands as fast as possible, else i suggest the tailor/flask/potion combo and the "knowledge" ones those facebook contacts agents will save you from waiting

This is what caused me to restart in my first run , I didn't understand fully and thought I could just respec the perks and ended up picking a bunch of worthless ones. Now I'm on my second run (fully knowing now) but still don't know which tree I should tackle for the early game.

I got all of the +EXP for codex entry perks first, because they unlock new conversation options in addition to letting you level faster. Very highly recommended.

Well, to be fair you do get different dialogue options based on your origin, so there's that.

Are those rare schematic perks worth getting? Are there any perks that give crafting materials(not just herbs) I really need those.

I was able to recruit a spy agent by virtue of being a dwarf with a smuggling background and didn't need the underworld conversation options. ^_^

I did the same thing. Only took dialogue perks that were character relevant and left the rest. At most I took 3 (Nobility, Arcane and History) for my Trevelyan mage since the Ostwick Circle allowed him to be tied to his noble family (and privileges) and he's likely to have an educated upbringing and knowledge of magic given the Circle.

The schematics were practically nothing. Was expecting some sort of high-tier unique armor/robes or something, possibly race-unique in the case of the non-human races.

I generally like:

Forces- the one that adds +10% defense to all party members in everything

Secrets- Forward Scouts- saves the aggravation of having to look up quarry/logging stand locations

Connections- anything that gives access to high quality materials, saves the aggravation of farming and lets you craft really good weapons and armor faster

I did not know this. Very good to know.
