So Bioware is the company that takes on social issues. How long till they give us a real female figure?

Women who fight and work for a living should not have the body of an anorexic super model. Time to be realistic on how a womens body would look.
They could give us the option of customizing the body, but I'd imagine that would be more work in regards to armor. It's just easier to have the one model for each sex/race.

Qunari and dwarves seem to have a thicker body variation. Quit playing those silly skinny elves and humans.

Ah, so good to know that if I have a body type that resembles the femInquisitor's that it's not a "real" woman's. ![]()

Sadly even Qunari lady (with her killer thighs I mean goddamn) still suffers from noodle arm syndrome.
I don't see why BW does that.
How do you give someone thighs that freaking thick...then give her goddamn noodle arms.

Cassandra'a figure seems to match. She's far from anorexic, and you don't need an Iron Bull-like physique to be an effective fighter either.
Females elves however, yeah those just look a bit too lithe to believably stand in a furious melee. Albeit same can be said for male elves.

May as well use this thread to complain about all art designs.
Horses... REALLY wide in comparison to players. Characters look funny riding them. And by funny I mean ridiculous.

I'd rather not have it shoveled in my face. I was okay with Krem, simply because I could ignore it, as it should be. I'm more pissed off by all the crazies on the board saying "ZOMG a real transgender, so progressive!"

An effective fighter no. An effective TANK is a different thing altogether. You have to remember she's taking those 2 handed swings from various behemoth's on her shield, which means she's absorbing those blows with her body. So people have a point when they say she's too thin for such a job.
Whether they're taking video games too seriously or not is another matter entirely.

She's also wearing pretty heavy armor and can't block indefinitely, and is seen training all the time and is an experinced Seeker, so meh. It's maybe not 100% realistic, but it's a far cry from waifish girls in skirts swinging around massive hammers or stuff like that.
This is a game where I can puncture full plate armor with a dual-bladed dagger with a curved edge then dissapear in a puff of smoke afterwards. So I'm not too invested in realism, I'll play Total War mods or Mount and Blade if I want that.

It's less than 50% realistic XD

Cassandra is anorexic? It really goes to show how out of touch with reality our modern culture is to body sizes. Cassandra isn't even remotely anorexic, and there are many highly athletic women with slim frames. We live in a culture battling a obesity crisis and we think healthy sized individuals are too thin.

I don't think they have the body of an anorexic super model. They seem pretty fit to me. How do you think they should look?
If you're a soldier, or at least someone who constantly sees combat (which is pretty much all your protagonists) you should be fit. For all we know they eat healthy. There are no preservatives (it's all naturally raised Nug meat) and McDonald's in Thedas to make raise their cholesterol.
You actually don't need to eat healthy if you are in combat. Its hard to not stay in shape while avoiding bullets - it tends to burn a lot of calories.

So OP why can't female gamers play sexy characters? Why must every other female gamer have to play the way you want to play? Every girl in the world wants to be beautiful.

I'd rather the focus on giving is realistically sized weapons. Thin arms and shapely bods exist, but these oversized anime weapons are constructs of the mind. Most of the series' weapons have been laughable.
That I can agree with, albeit Inquisition is much better than past games as I've seen. Most 1-handers are reasonably sized, and while 2-handed hammers look like Hulk would have difficulty lifting it, greatswords look sorta appropriate. Unless you play an elf, which means your weapon is almost as tall as you. Dual-blade daggers look silly, but hey.

You sound just like the people I used to do live steel with at Ren Fairs. But Rob, you can't use your martial arts training for sword fights, people in the middle ages just swung them like bats...
Given a Shield, I can "take" those blows all day, because turning the shield just a bit will let the shield dissipate the force. You're going to take some of the brunt, but the majority is going to be lost "sliding" along the shield. The reality is, even Arnold couldn't take a full on swing from a one of the big war hammers on a shield. It would break his arm. So instead of taking the brunt, you deflect it, which is what shields are for. The same technique, basically, works with swords as well. But if you're thinking that a lot of body mass will let you just stand there like a wall, you're going to be disappointed by the reality.

You can "take" blows swung by 80 kg, untrained, actors sure. If you want to "redirect" blows by opponents 3 times the size wielding a warhammer bigger than he is then I'm fairly certain you'll get squashed like a nug. In fact, replace "fairly" with "certain," because it still takes "force" to redirect a blow.

In fairness Bioware should just make 95% of all the character ugly, fat, and misshapen. Then the make the looking characters self absorbed and totally vain.

I should also point out I was specifically talking about Cassandra’s use of the Shield Wall skill, where she seems to absorb blows instead of redirecting. More than likely named after the real life tactic where fighters wouldn’t exactly redirect blows into their buddy next to them.

I'm not untrained. I have actually been in mock sword fights, but also in real, albeit unarmed, martial arts tournaments. Nothing professional, just some things with my school, back in the day. Sure, if I stand there like a bump on a log, I'll get crushed, If I fight like I have a brain, I might not even have to have the shield to not get hit. It doesn't require great physical strength to out maneuver a guy 3 times my size, which would put them at almost 700 pounds.

That sort of tactic is only effective en masse in a Greek Phalanx or Roman Legion. Even then, the main idea isn't to take blows head-on individually but to push back the other army as a group, make part of their line stagger, and then stab them with spears where their line is weakest. The Shield Wall from DAI bears no resemblance to anything a real trained fighter would do.
That said, I'm still amazed that elves of either gender can even manage to lift a shield with those arms.
