That doesn't matter. Our biology is different. This argument of "monkeys have smaller biceps then us but are stronger!" is useless.

You can in fact "compare" another species with a human i.e. take homosapieans and compare them to chimps. Our DNA is 98% simmilar. Also, monkeys and apes are two diffrent things. A chimp is an ape, learn some biology.

Also here is an article from the Smithsonian that compares the realitive strength of homosapieans and chimps. And explains why chimps are stronger than humans.http://www.smithsoni...1379994/?no-ist

Your comparing an animals biology to that of a humans? Doesn't really work.

'Cause humans aren't animals...

When people use the word "real" to describe fuller women, it kinda makes it seem like thin women are somehow fake? It gives off the impression of skinny-shaming.

I'd prefer female characters being more muscular.

HEY!!!! That's how I bounced when I bounced, let 'em hit me until they got tired, then took 'em outside.

I'm thinking that if they'd been armed with poleaxes you and your career would have been shorter.

You don't seem to be grasping my point. I acknowledge that chimps are stronger then humans. But that has zero bearing at all on female soldiers. Its a useless example when comparing human fighters. You cant just respond to "people that lift for looks tend to be bulkier then people that fight for a living" with "but chimps!" A professional fighter is most likely going to beat a lifter of equal weight in a fight, but not because he is stronger. Because he is more skilled and has a better cardiovascular system. Chimps don't enter into that.

While your at it let them make less buff Qunari and more muscular elves

(male that is)

I've been curious because of one YouTube Video I saw and maybe, based on your comment you can answer a question for me.  If you played a male elf protagonist was he almost effeminately willowy in frame and mannerism (except for the ape walk we all got)?  It looked like Solas was better built in the video with a male elf I saw and wanted to find out from others if it was just certain angles or if they felt that way in general throughout the whole thing.

One of the main reasons i cant play as a female in bioware games is: NOODLE ARMS! You can forgive it for a mage or rogue(still those arms look very cringeworthy to me), but for a warrior??

Im not asking them to be bulky wrestlers on steroids but a little muscle on the hands wont hurt dont you think?

And with what happened to male elves in DA:I, I cant play as them either( i think their shoulder width is narrower than Sera's!), it seems to me that im playing as a 14 yo and its too creepy to romance somebody. So leaves only human male for me, though its not such a bad thing, im boring i like to play humans)

Maybe if you play an elf, but a human should have the same arms as Cassandra (see the above pic).

They have the same body type for everyone, and extra body type takes up resources. If they have a rounder female protagonist then the rest of the NPCs would be like that as well. That was the reason why female dwarves didn't make an appearance in DA2 because it takes up too much resources. If people complain about females being like supermodel then they should bring up males being supermodel type as well. They are both idealized versions of ourselves. Since the games have a lot of interaction, clipping and positioning would also very hard with varying body types, and I would rather the body type by of idealized version of myself, male or female, if I want to at an regular Joe's body, I look in the mirror or stare at the street. I do wish the Qunari's female would have been bigger though and more muscular considering how exaggerated qunari male's physiques are.

I agree. They give all races/genders one build each. This makes it easier to work the character frames in cut scenes. So they give them all a moderate frame for their given race/gender. Because if they didn't every NPC would have the exact same build.

Games like Kingdoms of Amalur gave everyone the same build too, but the men were all hulking muscle men. And that looked silly when every shopkeeper, farmer, spoiled rich noble looked like they were living on a diet of creatine and spent 8 hours a day in the gym. Meanwhile, all the women huge boobs and super physiques. It was kind of distracting when you were talking to someone who was supposed to be a sweet, little old lady or something.

So I'd like more options of builds on characters, but if they had to pick one, going with a moderate build for all human characters was probably the best call.

Everything from, "comparing animal biology to humans" and calling apes "monkeys" has been wrong. It shows of someone who has no clue that Charles Darwin changed our understanding of biology back in oh...1859.

None of the characters in DA have unrealistic bodies. Even IB has a realistic body, despite a body like that only being achievable through years of hard work and a damn near perfect diet. If you want to get pedantic about it, there's really no reason to waste resources on creating unique body models for each character. Cass has an average physique for the same reason a Mage is ripped, it's just easier to have one body model. This isn't an issue of a body image or whatever, it's an issue of resource management. Also most real fighters aren't rip ****, it's impractical, they get tired too quickly. Use Bruce Lee as an example.

Now, you might say "well why is IB so huge" the answer to that is because it's a set piece.

Also Cass is miles away from anorexia, if you honestly believe she's anorexic you've either never seen one, or are just using it as a synonym for "thin". Having known a girl who was very anorexic at one point, I can assure you they don't look like Cass.

Yes, I have nothing against how Cass looks, she may not have warrior muscled hands, but her hands look normal enough for me. Human female though....maybe its just me but they are too thin.

This.

Anorexia is an illness and - without a veil of make up - it shows.

Cass is a healthy, strong women.

The human female body model is fine, it is an example of one of many "real" female shapes, whether it is one you prefer is another thing altogether.   Preference isn't the same thing as "realistic".  It is why BioWare can get away with having whatever type they want for "elves" since there is no "realistic" form for a fantasy race.   As my grandma used to always say, " You are always free to be wrong."   Unfortunately, the body types they chose for the elves is neither realistic nor practical.  There is NO way they could have survived in physical combat, period.  I love, love the game but what they have done to the elves over the past two games I will never understand.   Solas, Sera: both look lithe and more willowy than humans without looking ill proportioned or emaciated as many of the generic elves as well as our pc elves are formed.  The faces of the elves can look SO fantastic, but the bodies....it is so hard to play and look at them.    The humans in the game though?  Pffft.  They don't look anorexic.  I've lost a friend from anorexia, and  the closest I have seen to that horrible illness is the elves.

Also, I think using one model per race/gender is a far stretch from accusing Bioware of failing to tackle social issues.

Ok so my phrasing has been poor, but you understood my point fine, so whats the problem? Your mad, I get it, try taking a deep breath instead of pointing out how stupid someones phrasing on a fantasy videogame forum is.

This to me is an ideal.  Amazing genetics, amazing discipline to keep ones body looking that great.  I don't feel however that an ideal is necessary to tell a great story.  Most women can only dream of looking this great and that in turn makes this unrealistic...   but hell,  I wish my body looked like Superman.  I'll never have it...  so the question I guess is,  do I want to play a person who is built like Superman,  or do I want something more natural that perhaps I can relate to?

LOL! You are posting on a fantasy video-game board, get over yourself. Your feeling of superiority is hardly earned. A few links and attacking my misuse of the word "monkey" hardly marks you out as an intelligent person. Merely someone petty, with too much time on their hands, that derives pleasure from "not letting stupidity slide."

Only a total clown would pull that line btw.

In real life, Whirlwind Swing would be a projectile attack, effecting enemies with a Panic Debuff as they struggle desperately to wipe away your vomit.

It would also damage the person performing it, if not kill them outright (or one of their allies, if they lose grip on their weapon).
