I think the thread...is moot. It is a fantasy game after all and not reflective of reality.
So Bioware is the company that takes on social issues. How long till they give us a real female figure?

It's a matter of distribution though. Fifty pounds harnessed to your back isn't the same as the weight covering your whole body.
50 pound suits were only made with the arrival of gunpowder. Obviously once guns were invented suits of armour became thicker and heavier to compensate. Before the invention of guns, plate armour was 35-40 pounds.

Depends on the set, and poor people wore little to no armour, but you're right.

You'd think the latter easier but - as anyone who has jogged with weights on their legs will confirm - it really isn't.
Well yeah, poor people would never be able to afford mail or plate. A poor person would probably just have a gambeson or a padded jack. Better then nothing.
And I agree about the distribution.

Makes sense. I'm going off surviving sets but not allowing for the fact they probably survived because they're ornamental or ceremonial.
My mistake.
Someone admitting they might have been wrong on the internet. I'm breaking new ground!

True, but if reality is brought into the discussion its worth pointing out that most real world warriors weren't built like Conan the Barbarian either.

But. And this is a huge but. There may be a case women possessing different and varied body types in games. Bioware is awesome but they could have some room to improve on this area. But the existence of Aveline and Cass and the female Qunari and female dwarf definately show they are at least interested in this idea.
But all the body types certainly fit into a conventionally sexually attractive paradigm.
*shrug*. Idk

True but if reality is brought into discussion there would hardly be any female warriors to begin with...so why even bring up reality?

I presume the OP means somebody like Jessica Ennis who is an Olympic gold medallist at the heptathlon and so has a physique that represents a near perfect blend of strength, speed and middle distance endurance, she also has a pretty mean 6 pack. She's awesome and real.

There were plenty of examples of female warriors throughout history.

I'm not so sure that you have impressed them with your tendency towards yawning cliché, and that silly misunderstanding of the basics of hominidae biology.

Hmmm. That is highly debatable.
There have always been less women than men on the battlefield - I believe there still is, going off army recruit numbers - but it's not especially rare to find tales of female fighters, more so if you turn your focus away from the Western world.

Examples do not make for the norm...compared to the sheer numbers of male warriors, they were small in number and this is also true today, which why inserting reality into a fantasy game makes little sense.

I think hominid would have been sufficient Louis...without the 2nd declension genitive and/or nominative plural...in fact I have never seen that being used in the context of hominid....

Apart from instance of women fighting in defence of their own towns and villages, women actually fighting on battlefields is very rare. It gets mentioned a disproportionate amount in histories because when it happens its always note worthy. You are really talking about less the 0.01% of all combatants in history. Not that this matters as this is a fantasy game and so it doesn't have to be realistic.
