1. A game without endless trashmob respawns

2. A game without grinding of any kind

3. A game that doesn't say FU to keyboard/mouse players

4. A game that has superb and spectacular inventory fit for year 2014

Does this sound like DA3? No, it doesn't.

And thus EA's flagship didn't get GOTY on PC this year on gamespot. It was nominated, of course.

Next time EA, please, try to make singleplayer PC game on PC. Am I right that on Origin next annoying advertisment will be "check why gamespot critics nominated DA3!"?

Then they'd have to re-hire the actual PC programmers and developers that used to work for Bioware.

You mean all those who got a better job at Ubisoft Montreal and Eidos Montreal? And made FarCry3 and Deus Ex: Human Revolution?

Not gonna happen. ;)

The difference in the pc-centric quality between DA:I and D:OS is so striking that I would like to congratulate Gamespot on stating what is painfully obvious. Larian deserved the overall GOTY accolades in my opinion. I thought that after 4 weeks Bioware would have patched DA:I into 'THAT' game - but alas, coming to the forums on my time off has only resulted in a perpetual state of disappointment.

(For the love of Pete Bioware, is a walk/run toggle THAT hard to implement? Is begging all that we have left?)

Congrats to D:OS!

Edit:

Hmm, Gamespot still gave DA:I a 9 which is actually what I would LOVE to give the game - if I could - but I can't, and I won't. As it stands in it's current state, I could barely muster a 6.5 or a 7. (It's the little things. Many, many, many, many, many - many little things).

I wish for walking in Inquisition too :)

Also, Gamespot gave it 9/10 on CONSOLE (not mad at U Spitfire), which it might be, but on PC? Noooooooo way - not yet anyways.

I personally enjoyed DA:I more than Divinity.  I really wasn't overly pleased with class balance in that game.  Maybe it's all been fixed since last I played.  Character creation was horrible.  Story was meh.   I dunno...   just don't see the two as even rivals honestly.

That is not to say there were not parts that I enjoyed.  But compared to one another?   No contest for me.  DA:I got me to replay it 4 times now.  I didn't even finish Divinity because I found it so boring.

Well I kind of expected this, DA:I is great but it needs to have a lot of things patched. Kudos to DOS, great game.

Divinity Original Sin.

Couldn't have happened to a more deserving developer. An actual, deep, meaningful, open, wonderful, funny, strategic, tactical RPG.

It's everything DA:I isn't. There's no wonder it won.

Bravo!

Divinity has the gameplay, the interface, the interesting multi layered side quests and the controls, Dragon Age Inquisition has the budget and the story. I'm more of a gameplay oriented person so Divinity is better to me.

I've put hundreds of hours into DOS, all co-op and all extremely satisfying. Not a single play session goes by without laughter, wonder at figuring out puzzles and fist pumping when a strategy for an encounter works.

Not to mention its a flawless control system, suited to the exclusive platform it sits on wonderfully. It looks great, it plays great, it sounds great.

Sometimes, I really wonder how many old devs back from the Baldur's Gate days are still currently working for bioware?

Hey, I though Gamespot was supposed to be part of the awful gaming media that lies to us all the time. This is still the BSN, right?

I haven't played much of Divinity: Original Sin yet, but I immediately felt that the gameplay was great. I liked the combat in particular, which is Dragon Age Inquisition's main flaw. Original Sin perrfectly understands how people use a mouse and keyboard. DAI feels as if someone just bound the controller buttons to keys and called it a day.

The writers, artists, and actors/actresses all did their jobs well with DAI, but with poor PC controls/UI the overall execution is lacking, making the game alot less enjoyable 1 month after release. Hence my vote also went to D:OS.

Larian Studios heavily utilised its community as well, the level of communication between nowadays' Bioware and its fans seem to be rather lacking these days by comparison, out of the excuse that this forum is "too negative". I wanted DAI to be a masterpiece, but seems we'll have to wait until next year for it to reach the level of polish for PC players.

A M&KB is only useful when inputting code for the controller ui during development.

Witcher 3 will definetly bring a certain level of polish.

Polish.

Get it?

Okay, I'll go now.

Divinity is just a better game. If you like to use a brain in your head instead of brain in your spine.

A fair result. Divinity was a dedicated PC game, whereas Dragon Age was a not particularly well executed port. DAI will probably still win GotY overall, but its nice to see a PC exclusive get recognition and reward.
