My windows live ID to sign into xbox.com is different from the email account I use to get my xbox emails. Which one should I use to link accounts?

Heres how it works.
1. do you have an ea.com account?
1a. Yes you do, log in on that site, then add your gamertag to your profile
1b. no you dont, create an ea.com account, then add your gamertag to your profile
2. log into game w/ ea.com account
3. ????
4. PROFIT
