I don't recall Bioware every saying that DAI would be better than DAO. That's incredibly stupid.

I lost the people I saved in Haven? Is that why they wander around Skyhold?

None of your choices matter in DAO, either. Regardless of what you do or how you do it, you still kill the Archdemon at the end. The only thing you do in DAO that makes any difference at all is if you kill your Warden, because then you can't play as them in the DLCs.

Yes they do. In origins story, dwarf noble, many variations as with the others.   Then each zone, many variations for the ending of each side zone and not may they result in different allies, golems vs undead legion, etc, all result in different end game slides showing how your decisions impacted the long term of the areas.  You saw results and outcomes for most things you did in DAO.  You don't see any and rarely even get any in DAI. (For example, One option being making peace w/ that cult and recruiting them or killing them, whether you do or not, you never see/hear from them again), if it was DAO, they' be in a future battle helping out, and the end game would have talked about what happened in that area because of allying with them or if you destroyed them, etc.

Count me in as someone who has many (over a dozen) playthroughs of DA: O (which is probably my second favorite game of all time, behind KOTOR) and who loves DA: I as well.  I'm almost done my second playthrough and beginning my third playthrough.

It's not the same game, so I don't mind experiences that are different.  The combat isn't really to my liking and I'm not loving the overabundance of search/retrieve quests, but I love the companions and think the story is solid.  I'm fan.  It's probably within the top 5 Bioware games for me:  KOTOR, DA: O, BG2, ME 3, and DA: I).  It's way better than DA 2 in almost every single way.

I must agree with most of your post....Especially the bolded part. For me though, Origins will always be the best game I ever played due to its ability to make me cry. Tis most embarrassing but the first time I played and saw Duncan die and the King die, I cried for half an hour.

Your post is thought out and very valid for the most part. Constructive criticism is fine. I don't think negative views come from trolls, some really do go the distance though and it is unnecessary. Origins is one of my favourite games of all time but I do like this game a lot also.

Saying that re-read your title and then figure out why people are getting pissed off. If you don't get it then I can't help you.

I'd like DA:I a lot more if they fixed the bugs.  I've been listening to the possible banter on YouTube and I haven't heard even a third of what's available in game.  As it is there's hours of silence then a line that I may or may not have already heard.  I like DA:O more but I like DA:I as well.  I'm holding off playing DA:I again till hopefully another patch comes that fixes some of the issues.

This is literally the same extent of the choices in DAI.

"Golems vs undead legion" = Templars vs mages.

You also never saw the dragon cult on the way to the Urn of Sacred Ashes after that particular quest as well, what's your point?

Wow, it's preposterous that anyone is capable of liking DAI while also liking DAO. Ridiculous I say! Burn those heretics at the stake for daring to have a different opinion!

Sarcasm aside, I too am someone who thoroughly enjoyed/enjoys both games (and DA2 too for that matter because I don't share the omg-it-doesn't-play-exactly-like-a-carbon-copy-of-Origins-so-therefor-this-game-sucks opinion).

Both have their strong and weak points. Personally I can't stand DAO's horribly slow combat. But I looooooved the camp and getting to talk to everyone there. It just felt different than doing the same thing in Kirkwall or at Skyhold, because in camp it felt more like we were an actual group sticking together.

I still have at least two more DAI full playthroughs planned in the near future and I will definitely go back to DAO and DA2 again as well at some point, and I plan to enjoy the holybajeebus out of all three of them!

The Blackstone Irregulars joined in the fight against the archdemon. I know I recognized one of those guys on the field somewhere. I swear.

And guess what? Those epilogue slides can be retconned pretty much at will.

I'm enjoying it because I have freewill and my own opinion and when you get older you will too.

I'm also enjoying because I DID NOT expect a carbon copy of Origins and the Developers DID NOT lie to us.  Your expectations weren't met so you are projecting.

Especially mages. I'm playing a mage in DA:O right now, and it's turning lyrium to ambien.

DAI is nothing but an improvement to DA 2, to say that it is better than DAO is like saying North Korea has excellent human rights.

This might actually be the worst comparison in the history of the English language.

I like the entire DA trillogy, i don't see why liking 1 game should automatically make you hate another, the OP reminds me of those people who think that if you enjoyed ME1 then you should detest ME2 & ME3 for not being identical to it

I would have liked it if bioware didn't lie about it and it wasn't sold and told to be a game with customizing, better than DAO, more indepth consequences for choices you make, etc,  when no choice you make has any impact in DAI, it's a really really dumbed down version of DAO with updated graphics, a much shorter story, with a ton of offline MMO fetch and grab filler quests.

<snip>

OK...now....I have not seen any lies about DA:I in pre release statements. Hell, I am actually impressed by the amount of restraint the devs and writers have shown and how up front they have been. This is like night and day when looking back at another certain release of theirs...(we all know which one). Hell, even one pre release statement (dealing with the number of endings) they took time to actively correct and explain with context!

Call me nuts but I was impressed.

Can you find the pre release statements for each of the state items?

1-a game with customizing

2-better than DAO

3-more indepth consequences for choices you make

So far, the only real RPG/mechanic flaw I see is that there is only one real ending. Also I am hearing about a lot of fetch quests...

I liked Origins better, but I still loved Inquisition. If I had to grade them Origins probably gets a 9.7 and DAI gets a 9. You do bring up some good points OP, but you may want to reconsider the way you present them.

The only choices that really do anything in DA:0 is what army you can use at the end & if the PC lives/dies, everything else is a dialogue change at best

Another one for the "I want DAO 2!" pile. Now listen up, its very simple, creative people dont want to regurgitate the same thing over and over, they want to do new things, tell new stories and make new games. If you're waiting for DAO 2 then you're in for a long wait...make that a forever wait since its not going to happen. DAO had DLC's and an expansion, its done.

Yes as a matter of fact  I did enjoy both inquisition and Origins for that matter I've greatly enjoyed every Bioware RPG I've played except for mass effect II which turned me off of mass effect, to the point Mass Effect 3 is the only Bioware RPG I haven't played because I disliked the second game so much.

Because aside from the story DA:O can be quite boring. Especially as a mage. Stand there and let the autoattack run (admittedly you cant cast while moving still).

All 3 Dragon Age games are good but Origins had no connection between zones other than the random encounters, while DA2 had the one cave, DA:I has a stripped down tactics
