I don't feel guilty for it (I have killed all of them in my playtrough) but I have to say that killing dragons in DA:I  doesn't give me any feeling at all since it seems totally detached from the game.

I mean, when you did it in DA2 there was a purpose, also killing the high dragon in DA:O could have a purpose because you could say that you got rid of it from a sacred place, but here? Nobody (with the except of Bull) ever mention them, no npc ever complain about their presence, they are well hidden in remote corners of the map, therefore you can say it's just bounty hunting and nothing else.

I have to say I feel the same. I mean dragons are always cool and all, but I killed a few mostly for the loot and IB romance. Especially the dragon in Crestwood had so much potential for a great quest, since you find a letter behind it that 100 pounds of ram meat had to be sacrificed to it every morning or something along those lines. And yet none of the villagers said anything? Wasted.

I kind of feel the same when beating the Omega Weapon in FFVIII and getting a diploma as a reward. //snorts

If that happened to me I just kill the dragonling and loot both of them, lol.

But I am also the kind of bastard who shot Lord Woolsey and the Golden Halla in the Exalted Plains, lol.

>_> I uhhh just looted her and the babies and ran off to kill the next dragon. It's a made up mythical creature, dragons aren't real and if you read the codex entries, there are thousands of high dragons loose on Thedas, attacking villages and killing people everywhere. Killing 10 isn't going to make them extinct.

/clubsbabydragons /eatstheirhearts.

I am also guilty of shooting sir Woolsey and the Golden Halla before I knew what they were for. Thought they were special mobs for uber loots (like notorious monsters or something).

lmao funny how you dont mind killing people all over thedas but a dragon is tear inducing and creates a anti-killing drg movement?? Ah bsn, never change.

Same thing happened to me!! I defeated the Hinterland dragon and there was just one dragonling who just stood there, staring at the corpse, ignoring me. ;_;

I only killed a few of the dragons but I don't recall any little ones running up to the corpse of their mother.  There were some little ones still alive after I killed the dragon in the Hinterlands but they were just sitting in that middle area.

Actually, no. At least one of them is known to be eating the town's livestock and some of the guards that tried to drive her off, I believe in Crestwood. I think that 2 of three of them in Emprise du Lion are buzzing the troops too, at least, something to that effect came up in the dialog post operation to rebuild the bridge.

I never got the baby dragon thing, and I'm not sure it would bother me much if I did. (more scales)

I just killed my first dragon today and I felt awful about it. They look so real and they are incredibly beautiful. I don't want to kill any more of them; I want to just watch them.

ME TOO. I want a game where you save dragons from rampaging militia or something. Feed it an occasional cow FFS.

The same thing just happened to me. After I killed her this one dragonling just....stood there looking at me. I did wonder why it wasn't attacking because the other 4 or 5 in the Valley were. During the fight with them I turned around and it was behind me - still non hostile. Then Cassandra killed it. ILU Cass but really?!

You know what a really douche bag thing to do is when that one dragon on the storm coast(?) is fighting the giant. Is to go to the island where all her babies are...and murder every single one of them.

I have to admit I feel pretty bad when I kill those dragons too. I only kill one or two each playthrough because I hate watching them die, they die so sadly. :(

The only dragon that I felt bad on killing was the one on the Hissing Wastes. The old bugger was just sleeping. Varric also comments on it if it's just coincidence that the dragon was there simply because our destination is right behind her.

I seem to recall, aside from a few already mentioned places, hearing about how the dragons are pestering humans in some way shape or form.  The sleeping one isn't obviously, and the one on the storm coast is almost an ally, considering spoilers and where it nests.

As to having any kind of moral dilemma about killing one...no.  Sure, they're beautiful and awesome, but after my first fight with the Hinterlands dragon (I was only level 7, in my defense) and how utterly it destroyed me when I was merely seeking shards, I have no qualms killing the lot of them.

The one in Crestwood, i have no problem with, because the NPCs talk about it taking sheep and kids and whatnot.

The others? With the exception of my completist game, and my Bull romance game--and maybe the hyperaggressive Ferelden Frostback because that one is very close to Redcliffe and Redcliffe has been through enough in the last 10 years, methinks--I'm happy to ignore the loot drops and let them be.

Spoiler

Can I just ask...

...what the hell is going on with these forums?

Dragon-rights activists...what next?

We must protect Scruffy, the flop-eared Fennec. In fact I am starting an Occupy Thedas movement even as we speak.

I must be heartless because I get a kick killing those lizard a-holes. Then again they shouldn't attack me if they want to keep breathing.

That game is so bad that it's not even able to use the book lore correctly.

Witcher do not kill dragon, period.

No exception.

Well, I can't agree that game is bad because it's not (it's actually better that all this DAI) but I was going to say the same. Geralt don't kill Dragons.

The Witcher - Sword of destiny - The Limits of the Possible.

bottom of page 7 and onward https://docs.google....QQjQ/edit?pli=1

' "But you cannot escape the conflict between Order and Chaos. In spite of your comparison,
you're not a blacksmith. I saw how you work; you enter an underground tunnel and come out
of it with a small, mangled basilisk. There is a difference, my pretty, between shoeing horses
and killing basilisks. You've already indicated that you'll journey to the other side of the
world to slay a certain monster if the pay is worth it. Let's say a fierce dragon destroys..."

"Bad example," interrupted Geralt. "You see, the boundary becomes blurred already. I don't
kill dragons, in spite of the fact they no doubt represent Chaos."

"Why is that?" Three Jackdaws licked his fingers, "But that's outrageous! Surely of all the
monsters, the dragon is the most dangerous, vicious and cruel. Most terrible of all the reptiles.
It attacks humans, spits fire and it even steals virgins! Haven't you heard enough stories about
that? Is it possible that you, witcher, do not have a few dragon slayings in your list of
accomplishments?"

"I do not hunt dragons," Geralt replied dryly, "Giant centipedes, yes. Dracolizards,
dermopterans but not real dragons, greens, blacks or reds. Make no mistake about it."

"You astonish me," replied Three Jackdaws, "But nevertheless, I get the message. Enough
talking about dragons for now. I see something red on the horizon; undoubtedly our crayfish.
Drink up!" '

Of course, you can spare the dragon and hope we´ll be able to deal with the sorceress in 3.

I didn't do the Yorveth path yet. I should go replay it and do that. I know on Roche's path you can leave the Dragon there but it seems like a fatal wound.

I didn't read the books, so I can't comment on that. I enjoyed the game though and it was a great scene.

dermopterans but not real dragons, greens, blacks or reds. Make no mistake about it."

Well he isn't hunting the Dragon; it attacks him. More importantly, it's clearly a mercy killing and Geralt complains to Roche about the loss of the Dragon. This is what makes the scene have its emotional impact.

I've never felt bad about killing a hostile creature in any game and I doubt I ever will.  Killing powerful creatures is kind of the reason I play these games in the first place...

Yes lets all feel bad for these poor innocent dragons.

I'm sure all those animals and people they killed would understand.
