Hi all,

Do you know where I can get Fereldan Locks for the Cage Requisition quest? I've cleared all of Hinterlands a while back (when I was level 8, including defeating the dragon), and there are no more mages/templars to drop the locks. I'm kinda stuck on this quest and can't abandon it.

Where can I get the locks or is there a way to abandon the quest?

Thanks!

Ick. This is exactly why I don't even bother with the requisition quests anymore. I was getting sick of them ending up stuck in my journal. As far as I'm aware, there's no way to abandon the quest, but Google may be able to help you.

I suppose all the requisition quests will progress to the point of not being worth it.  I'm stuck on the Ferelden locks, too, but a templar in Emprise du Lion just dropped a lock, so all is not lost.  Really, the 1 power and 30 influence the requisitons bring isn't that big a deal at 19th level, anyway.  I think I have a caravan requisition that's hung up on iron, of all things.  I just stop by every once in a while and see if something magically filled itself.

Requisition quests are pretty much the definition of junk and garbage after the early game (where, admittedly, they are not the worst way to farm power).

I collect stuff as I go, and if that happens to coincidence with a requisition order, I'll fill it.  Otherwise, I wouldn't even bother.

I take them until I have 15 perks, then clear what's left in the journal, I'm at 20 perks by then so ignore the officer. They are useless after that.

yeah, im not interested in the power, i have enough of that... i just want it off my quest cuz it's hanging in the hinterlands journal and that's bothering me... :\ hence why i also ask if i can abandon it... :)

i guess i have just been given hope about emprise du lion, but im wondering Magdalena11, did you side with the templars or the mages? im guessing if u sided with the mages u'd get the templars in that region but if u sided with templars, id have mages to kill? i dont know...

I was doing them fairly religiously, assuming it would make a difference to the game later on.  "New swords?  Okay!  Here's my only lumber stand!"  Turns out, they make no difference and are a waste of limited resources.

I'm not sure about the mage/guard tower upgrade, but the greener garden upgrade doubled my herb garden and the courtyard was useless.  I do a lot of crafting and am upgrading potions and grenades, so the herbs help.  I don't really care what it looks like, so the courtyard would be just a source of power/influence.

I'm also stuck on this quest at a higher level.  Pain in the butt.  If they (Bioware) are going to include these types of quests, there should be a way finish them. Nothing I hate worse than quest in my journal.  Heck at higher levels give us the option to buy items from merchants or take the repeat factor off camp officer.  I think with the cloth ones I got them several times.  Why the repeat?  Can you say.....Asinine!

The requisition quests are infinite, as far as I understand. Finish one and a next one will always pop up. I usually take them just to get that exclamation mark out of the way of fast travel, but don't bother finishing them, apart from that first one in Haven.

I read an article before buying the game and it said they use needed resources so best to ignore them, now everywhere I go I am greeted with 'this might interest you, ser' I should do them now that II know where the good materials are, the game has become so easy I am using bull and varric on nightmare mode, what do I care about iron and drakestone

Once I have all I need, I take one in each region to get the exclamation point off my map and, keep the officer quiet but, I don't fill the last ones.

The requisition quest items can be obtained anytime during your playthrough. The Ferelden Locks can also be obtained outside of the Hinterlands though they are much rarer outside of that zone. With you being a level 19 might try farming the bandit mobs out in Crestwood, they still spawn out there at a much greater frequency than the ones in the Hinterlands post zone clear.

As far as I know, this quest is generally bugged as I received it three times with the final time being after I'd dealt with the mages and Templars in the Hinterlands.  I didn't have a single enemy anywhere else in the game drop the Ferelden Locks.  Generally after I've done the requisitions in this area twice, I don't go to the requisitions officer again for fear of getting repeated requests that I can no longer fulfil.

After the mage/Templar choice storyline quest, yeah the humanoid spawn rate plummets, which is why I suggested killing mobs in other zones. For instance the Freemen also will drop the lockboxes though the drop rate outside of the Hinterlands is nerfed to a degree it is not reduced by a whole lot though. Sort of like how you can get the Ferelden Service Medallion from killing humanoids in any of the Ferelden zones, and the acquisition quest is based out of Fallow Mire.

Requisition Quests blow.  Next time through I might do some early on to get Influence and Power, but in general they are so useless.

For me it's not Fereldan Locks I can't harvest in the Hinterlands but Decorative Gems because on my first two PTs I only got the Orlesian Tapestries requisition after I'd wiped out the Templars/Mages and the zone only respawns Outlaws and Lyrium Smugglers who don't drop DGs. The obvious fix is for the game either not to offer the requisition if the Templars/Mages are all dead or allow other Hinterlands foes to drop them afterwards. That said, the trick I've developed with the requisitions is to FastSave before speaking to the Req. Officer and then, because the requisitions seem to be randomly assigned, reloading if I get one I don't like or can't fulfil. I did that with my 3rd PT Inquisitor on first arriving at the Hinterlands; always seem to get a geological survey first but after reloading I got the Tapestries requisition and then when I started killing Templars/Mages found they began dropping the gems.

Given that requisitions also give Influence as well as Power I've used the FastSave/QuickLoad trick to fulfil successive requestions in Crestwood where I had an abundance of resources for surveys, caravans and longbows.

Requisition quests are only interesting in the beginning of the game.

I'm at level 23 now and have 512 power points but nothing to spend them on.

It's getting annoying having the requisition officer constantly break in as if it's extremely important. It is not. She is placed in the game to slow you down by draining your very best crafting materials to make you spend time on collecting once more.

She practically always wants what you value most (except from dragon items), rare herbs, metals and so on. You can't use the stuff you craft at the table, except for very few thing like spezialisations for the inquisitor.

In the beginning you can get easy influence and power but it doesn't really have any impact on your status as such late in the game.

I ignore her completely now. Not because I can't afford it. She is just a pain in the behind.

I actually managed to complete this requisiton for the first time. After I got it from the requisition officer, the rebel mages at the Hinterlands started to drop those locks one after another and on this playthrough I had not cleared out the Apostate Stronghold yet. So, I'm thinking that from now on, I'm leaving that stronghold untouched as long as needed.

Even better, once you are 100% sure that you have done everything in the map and you are not going to come back fulfill it at Skyhold QM table, so that you can get rid of it also from your journal

I never had issues with this one, but I had the worst time finding Malachite for the ceremonial armor one that pops up in the Exalted Planes.  I had sold off all my Malachite that was dropped in the Hinterlands long ago.
