I never had issues with this one, but I had the worst time finding Malachite for the ceremonial armor one that pops up in the Exalted Planes.  I had sold off all my Malachite that was dropped in the Hinterlands long ago.

 

You can easily farm malachite from a chest (if not fully looted yet), which is in a boat behind the Hinterlands dragon.

This was long after I killed the Frostback, cleared the area out and sold it all.  I've found it since then as loot drops on enemies or in random chests, but I've only ever gotten that quest twice.  The first time I sold it all and never got any more as loot drops or in random quests.  The second time I knew better and hoarded it.

Hey All!

 

I am also stuck looking for these impossible Fereldan Locks.

I've completed the entire Hinterlands so there no enemies to loot from.

 

Does this mean it's no longer possible for me to complete this quest?

 

Also has anyone ever looted Fereldan lock anywhere else other than I in the Hinterlands?

Hi all,

 

Do you know where I can get Fereldan Locks for the Cage Requisition quest? I've cleared all of Hinterlands a while back (when I was level 8, including defeating the dragon), and there are no more mages/templars to drop the locks. I'm kinda stuck on this quest and can't abandon it.

 

Where can I get the locks or is there a way to abandon the quest?

If I remember right usually it's the Outlaws that drop these....if they are still around in the Hinderlands. If memory serves me right if I don't get any in Hinderlands I can try Crestwood (or western approach? I think I get some bandits or those wolfe clan or whatever they are called drop them too?). I know the requisition quests factor to every zone and not a single zone. For an example I can get Serpentstones also in Western Approach as well to complete Storm Coasts "Storm Coast geological research" requisition.

Fereldan Locks are from rebel mages and templars from hinterlands. I remember, because I was doing it not long ago. Outlaws and bandits never dropped a single lock for me. Only mages and templars, so if you killed them all, then... yeah. I don't think you can finish this quest. I finished it once and after few more requisitons I got it again. Sadly, it was after I cleared out the rebels, so I can't finish this quest, too.

Requisitions are really only worth doing during the start of the game to bump up your power, mid game just doing the regular quest and map exploration will give you plenty and by the end game you will have enough gold saved to be able to buy it from skyhold.

My advice is to save before asking for a requisition. If the requisition wants materials you already have, accept it. If not, reload.

Reload if you get any that use cloth. Cloth is harder to come by and IMO wasted on requisitions.
Reload if you get any with special quest items, like fereldan lock, ancient tomes, decorative gems, etc.

Pretty much only accept the geographic requisitions that contain abundant metals for that area. And not the high armor metals. They're better used for armor crafting.

And the only real reason to do any of them is for the 150 influence to reach a new perk level quicker. Save scum for a thousand influence doesn't take too long. And if you're later into the game, the Hinterlands geographic requisitions use Iron and Onyx/Drakestone. I usually have tons of them that I will never use.

Never ever ever get any requisition quest other than collecting crafting materials. Reload until you get one.

I found out how to farm Fereldan lock

 

Go to Outskirts,, walk near the astrarium. The only way to get Fereldan lock is to find the spot where rebel mage respawn between Astrarium and the cave at the outskirts. At some time a templar and a wizard will fight there.

Save and load,, repeat till you see a rebel spellbinder
