Oh and Natashina, would you mind letting me know where you got that quote off David Gaider? Searched it in Google, but only results I got were you throwing around the quote in other threads about romance in DA:I.

Sure thing:

Edit: I remember when he made that comment.  I laughed hard enough that my dogs shot me a dirty look for waking them up.  :P

The "obvious answer" was half serious, half joking, it's actually what I would have expected to see in a longer thread, though I really do stand by it in the sense that DAO is fun and a great place to meet and romance Morrigan and Leliana (for males, as a lesbian I just romanced Leliana and was really happy with that).

Sorry, I thought from your post you'd seen that they've already said no they will not make previous romances available to new pcs... during the announcement of the LI's Mike Laidlaw explained that it wasn't something they would explore period.

Personally I'd want story DLC that also expands the characters/existing romances and you could count me as a lesbian not... satisfied with my options. Sera I find difficult to like story wise and Josephine has a plot element that jars with the world lore from a f/f perspective to me so if they explained that in a DLC as part of more story that would be nice. I like Josephine's character and looks I just have a logic issue.

To be fair btw the OP did include lesbians with straight males as having the least options so I'm guessing he meant a DLC to include us too which is kinda nice.

Wait... Harding gets insults? Wow... next it'll be Dagna, that's just baffling.

Also DLC that fixes Skyhold, adds mirror of transformation, alternate to pjs as casual clothes, more/improved hair and so on would be nice and I think I read somewhere that they are looking into the mirror at least.

Yeah, I missed that I guess... could have saved us all a lot of time if I'd known that front the start, my bad :P

Sure thing:

No problem.  It's easy to go, "Well, Mike Laidlaw said X," or "David Gaider said Y," so I can understand why you asked.  I actually appreciate you asking me to site my sources.  ;)

So for romance DLC, I'm all for that idea. However, I'm happy for what I got for my straight male and gay male (or bi/pan..) Inquisitors. I have Dorian and Cassandra. What I need is dundundun, straight female LI, for my dwarf and qunari ladies ^^

Gotcha, everyone has something in mind xD

Be nice if at some point in time they could just release a big DLC with all sexualities so that everyone could be happy, but I guess we're gonna have to dream on D:

I also would love a DLC that expands the already existing romances. I absolutely adore Dorian and don't personally need any extra characters added. I would buy a DLC like that in a heartbeat and even with a head-spinningly high price if needed. Also, a romance DLC wouldn't affect those players who don't want it because, hey, they don't have to buy it. So, yes, please, most definitely.

They are never going to be able to satisfy everyone's tastes no matter what. One of the main reason why i'm so strident against the gating they introduced which blocks off options further. Personally i've accepted making the best of what's there and looking ahead and hoping future games give me the sort of amazing romance experiences i lucked out with in first 2 games.

Thank you, I appreciate that.

I adhere to a simple code.  It doesn't work for everyone, but it works for me: Would you say/act like that in public?

It's not perfect, but I really do try.

And hey, try to chin up.  Did you know that they are talking about writing an asexual romance for a future DA game?  Also, if you haven't heard about Maevaris, she's a transgender woman from Tevinter from the comics.  She is the widow of one of Varric's cousins and another "good hearted Tevinter" character.  Unlike Dorian, she's a magister.  David Gaider stated that the biggest reason why she wasn't in Inquisition is because, by the time they had created her for the comics, it was too late to add her into the game.

So that's going to be something cool.  It's not all sexualities, but they are continuing to expand their horizons and try new ideas.  They also talked about trying to add polyarmorous relationships, but apparently trying to do so just killed their word budget.

Here, check this out Cep.  It's from a BioWare romance panel from GaymerX earlier this year:

If they added lines to an already established LI ...does that count as Romance DLC?

For example, in DA2 when you take your LI (Fenris - can't speak to the others b/c I didn't romance them). ;)  Anyways ...if you take your LI to the Duke's party, and your brother/sister comes along, they will talk to your LI about the relationship. Carver's party banter is especially endearing, because in spite of all his rage against the mage, he's very protective of her when he warns Fenris not to break her heart. There were also lines where Fenris spoke to Party members and Bethany about the state of the relationship. If you were in the "Ross and Rachel" period ..between Act 2 and 3 and before the reconciliation ...there are comments for that as well.

It adds to the immersion when "everybody knows". One of my favorite parts of DA:O was "the talk" with Wynne about Alistair and our "intentions".    If DLC included more romance for existing romances ...I'd be all over it like taint on a Darkspawn.  :D

That is absolutely true, and you seem to think I don't know it :P

After all, there isn't a single game in the world that hasn't copped a negative review, right? Just depends on the amount and severity of negatives.

There is one bit of romance content I'd like to see added via DLC: the ability to get that drink with Scout Harding post-game. If the Inquisitor had the ability to fully commit to a relationship with her and maybe give her a kiss, that would be very cool.

Since she's available for flirting for PCs of all races and genders, that would give straight male PCs another option.

...That's still a drink right?

I think the problem you have with DLC that fixes any particular issue is that it is limited in scope and appeal. Additional story chunks has been what's worked best in the past so I'd like to see any issues people have addressed in that rather than specific DLC for specific issues.

More than happy to assist. :) This was already something I wanted for ME and they did deliver in Citadel DLC... sort of... one scene...  <_<  ...but that shows it's clearly possible to do if they want to. To have a whole DLC just about the romance and relationship would be like 50 Christmases in one package.

I haven't read all of the previous posts, so this may be repetitive. If it is, sorry.

I'm a straight guy as well. I have completed Cassandra's romance and am working through Josrphine's. I am enjoying both, and the awesomeness of Cassandra caught me completely off guard. That said, if there were going to be a romance added, I vote for Scout Harding. The work is half done. I wouldn't be surprised if it was planned as part of the first story DLC since she talks about saving romance until the hole in the sky gets fixed.

Actually it would be nice if BW did something like Citadel DLC. Story with couple short romances... the romances should just be done better than they were in the Citadel DLC.

I loved the Citadel DLC but even up today, I haven't really used the games and such it offered (except the arena). And the decorating your quarters we already have, so I'd just much rather take a full romance DLC, instead of recreational one with just a touch of romance added to the side.  :)

True but I doubt BW would done sole romance DLC. Sebastian's DLC introduced new companion and new storyline, Citadel DLC had larger storyline with fanservice and couple short romances. So I think getting something like that is more likely than sole romance DLC though I'd buy any of those.

Big Snip

-----------
I understand that realism is of deadly importance in games like this and the characters were designed with this focus, but come on; in a fantasy RPG, you should be able to at least have the OPTION to romance some ridiculously good-looking characters (in fact, I'd pay good money to have that option). It IS fantasy, isn't it? :)

"... realism... deadly importance..." a tad strong, don't you think?

I play games to have fun and just to mentally relax.    For day-to-day realism,  I turn on the TV's news channel.

I'd buy a DLC to romance Morrigan or Leliana (be still my heart), but only if these are implemented::

0. engaging dialogues/characters

1. proper KB+M controls

2. Proper tactical combat list

3. Auto-attack

4. Optimized menu navigation.

5. Easy comparison of new crafting stats against what you and companions are wearing.

6. A freaking treasure chest, for the Maker's sake.

Optional

a. naming your save files

b. improved  tac-cam

c. an optimized graphic engine that does not use up 40% of my six-core cpu

while I and my party are in idle mode in the middle of a desert! I start this game and the PC can heat this room!!

Personally that's not something i want. Citadel was perfect for that particular situation as a fond farewell for characters at end of trilogy, a contrast to the horrendous trainwreck ending, a recompense for lack of content for many existing LI's received in the final installment. However outside that scenario i don't want DLC with such a extremely weak, tongue in cheek jokey story content.

After the ME3 ending disaster, no more ME for me... pun intended.

That said I'd like a DLC that expands on all the current companions and advisers romance or not. Story and characters tend to be my fav part of bio games so expanding them is always something I'm for.  :)

This. Personally, I could careless about the romances. But if there is a romance DLC I'd rather BW focus on the characters that are already established as romances. I'd rather see the characters we have fleshed out even more, instead of bringing in new ones.

Well if they wanted to do the romance with her it would be nice if they bumped up the drink scene a bit and had her as sort of a later game romance, perhaps with some content around some of the late game bits.

Heck maybe you can help her with the dance lessons she wants to give.

Plus then we'd finally have a dwarf romance.
