People know nothing about Canada in the rest of the world. It's in North America, so it must be a crony to the USA.

Sure they do. Canada is where Nickelback come from.

It seems that Americans are fine with extreme violence in their games but nudity is far to offending.

Eh, maybe the U.S. should be more like, gasp, Australia and just ban more games they find offensive.

Honestly?  Can you not save the country bashing for another forum?  I don't care for most countries overseas (save for Russia) but I don't start insulting your home country do I?

The thing here is, you guys and gals go nuts when you see a nipple. 18+ rating, or even 21+, because OH MY GOD, NIPPLES.

But on screen decapitations, with blood flying everywhere and the head doing some extra bounces on the floor? Let's slap a PG13 rating on this game and be done with it. That's totally normal for a kid to see.

Well let me tell you something: I can go outside and easily find a 13 or 14 year old kid who's had sex (and yes, he saw the nipples!), but finding anyone of any age who has done a decapitation is going to be difficult if not damn near impossible.

It's the hypocricy that's just mindblowingly stupid.

Some asexual people are "sex repulsed" and find nudity/sex offputting for non "childish" reasons. I'm not quite there myself, but I do typically find it weird/out of place in media and especially in video games.

Some have described it like going to the bathroom. They view it as a personal thing. It would be weird for two people have some intimate moment where they both tandem defacate (what a term), so not only is the act weird, but depicting it on screen and enjoy watching it is perhaps even weirder.

Too many people here are assuming that every American is the same. The majority of Americans don't reel in terror when they see a nipple. Most R-rated movies have nudity and some sex scene. Many popular TV shows in America have nudity and sex scenes. Hell, Game of Thrones is 90% penis and boobs.

The only people in America that don't like that stuff are the hard core religious people in the bible belt.

The point is that he was bashing and generalizing an entire country. Like someone else said, it's not like all Americans are sitting around complaining about boobs. It's just annoying to see all these insults aimed at a country, stereotyping it, when most people within the country have no problems.

Also...it's a Canadian developer. But no one ever bashes us for some reason :P

I agree with almost everything you said. Except for the Game of Thrones thing. It's like 80% boobs and full-frontal female nudity. There have only three penises in 5 seasons. As an American, even I have to accept that the nudity critique is dead on about full frontal male nudity. It's still pretty rare in American movies. Although it's certainly getting better lately. Most Americans still lose their minds at the thought of a penis in the movies/tv shows.

I think for many europeans it's just kinda hard to understand why in the US nudity and sex is such a big deal when violence is not.

This (I think excellent) video has a few scenes of nudity and extreme violence. Nudity is scencored, gore is not. I asked why. The creators response:

I know, it killed me putting those censor bars in.  I must say I agree with you 1000% and find it ridiculous that I can have all of that blood and gore, but a little nudity would cost an age verification.  I'm working on uploading the uncut/uncensored version on another website.

Is that troll bait I smell?

Seriously though, if I was that desperate to see pixel boobs I've a whole internet to choose from. A video game wouldn't even make the list. Gratuitous sex and nudity in games is pointless.

If we want video games to be considered more than just "something for kids" we need all the aspects from other media as well. That includes nudity. And sex. I believe it's not the point of seeing nudity just for nudity's sake, it's the point of having to censor that.

Though that's just my opinion.

Ah yes, at last, breasts in a North American produced video game.

Is this a sign of progress? I really hope so. You Americans with your fear of something as entirely normal (at least to anyone who showers daily), and beautiful, as the natural human body is very childish and off putting. Then again, pretty much everything about American society is rather alien and confusing to me, but hopefully you're beginning to learn and catch up with the modern world.

Kudos. I am most pleased.

Wait, so if I don't get all excited about a pair of breasts in a videogame, suddenly I'm the "childish" one?

OP, however did you get to that conclusion?

Again that's irrelevant. American culture can be sensitive around those topics, yes, but the point is that the OP stereotyped an entire people and blamed them for the no-nudity. I just wish people could have a bit more of a nuanced view of things, is all. I'm not even American but it must get so annoying for some of them in the internet, having to deal with stereotypes like "Americans are so squeamish" or "haha those dumb Americans". Just because most people who complain about it (that you've seen) are American , doesn't mean that most Americans complain about it. The world could do with less generalizing.

It's only annoying when a forum's moderation staff will infract stereotyping other nations, but let all insults against Americana slide, because that's just normal or something?. Don't dish it out if you can't take it.

Ah please. I speak not of pornography. I'm talking about nudity where it should occur naturally as the story flows along, not merely shoved in for fanservice. Somewhat like a classic painting of a mermaid (which always depicted them fully nude). Elegantly beautiful!

Also since this has been brought up here that a Canadian company made the game: There can't be nudity in it because everybody knows that Canada is a cold country. They don't really have a concept of nudity with all the furs and stuff they wrap around themselves.

I feel like I'm thinking too hard or not hard enough and I'm getting whooshed... You could wake me up out of a drunken stupor and I could slur at least seven games from US devs that had bewbs.

*tilts her head and wonders if the OP made the same post on Rockstar's forum last year*
