I'm still sad Fenris wasn't with my mage Hawke :(

Snarky Hawke wouldn't have ditched Fenris. He needs his shield.

Fenris was always my favorite DA 2 character/romance.

This is the best I could do in recreating him in the DA:I CC.  I'm so sorry Bioware forum.  I tried so hard....

You know, I've voted for Fenris on the "companions you disliked" poll, but honestly the only thing that made me dislike him was his position as sounding board for the templar cause in the mage/templar conflict in that game - Anders' position on the opposite side of that is what made me dislike him, too.

Honestly, take Fenris out of that setting where he can just be a guy who happens to distrust magic, and I think I'd rather like him.

Honestly, if you keep him and Anders away from each other, I've found they're both a lot more likable.

Like I said, the original Red Idol was BEFORE the Blight, before darkspawn and corruption. Perhaps it is something older? Darker?

Corypheus may be the only Darkspawn (that we know of) capable of infecting lyrium with the blight in modern day Thedas.

This implies that the taint and maybe even the darkspawn predate the magisters entering the Golden City.

or maybe the dwarves found one of the old gods that solas locked away as they are very much a important member of the taint lifecycle so its possible one of there schemes to get free was to corrupt the lyrium around them which either means that theres a old god that had awoken or was being dug for by the darkspawn in the ancient thaig.

I think at this point where he could possibly have survived the deep roads up to three times and potentially battled Darkspawn during various side quests it is safe to assume that he is extremely resistant to the taint, like most companions seem to be (except poor Carver and Bethany :crying:) and therefore won't contract it.

And I too think that red lyrium doesn't just come into existance by Darkspawn touching blue lyrium.
