Just nuke NK.

They deserve it.

That was General Douglas MacArthur's plan during the Korean War.

He lost his job for it.

MacArthur actually wanted to take down China, not just NK. But Truman nipped that in the bud and MacArthur was fired. It was probably for the best overall but it has had long-term consequences regardless.

I'm sure the movie will come out one way or the other. Either Sony just leaks ("we got hacked, they stole our movie!") the movie to give the offenders a middle finger salute, or they just wait a while, let the press run its hype, then show it anyway after the news practically made a massive marketing campaign for free.

That's likely what's going to happen.

When i first heard this news, It REALLY, REALLY pissed me off. We do NOT play by their rules, And we do NOT negotiate with terrorists. President Barack Obama has encouraged the American people in an interview to go and see the film, And Game of Thrones creator is offering to play it in his theater.

It's a private corporation.

They do what they want!

Well, it was also that Truman felt guilty about what happened the last time he signed off on the bomb.

It still reflects poorly on the U.S. even though it was decided on the business end of things and not the government. These constant displays of weakness, however miniscule they might seem, add up and tarnish our image further on the world stage.

And give Spiderman back to Marvel!

Let's hope we can sanction Sony then.

That will teach them!

This is just going to enlarge NK's ego and they will go after bigger targets like Facebook or Twitter. Or maybe the BSN too!!

China is the difference. We're almost as dependent on them as NK is at this point.

And people call China's military a "paper tiger" but I'd like to see them put their money where their mouth is. We have trouble keeping insurgents in the Middle East in line, nevermind a showdown with the PLA. We are not invincible.

I was under the impression that our problem with insurgents was the guerrilla warfare aspect of it, not that our military is incompetent. We're spending, right now, untold billions of dollars on our military (I have a friend who works for NG, was just working on the B2). The PLA is anything but "guerrilla." I don't think they'd be a problem, if it came to true "army" warfare.

I'm not saying our military is incompetent necessarily. What I am saying is that it's not as invincible as people think.

Our hands are also tied by things like the Geneva Convention so we can't play on the same field as the Taliban or Islamic State. They don't care about "rules of war" and that combined with their guerilla tactics is why we consistently fail to neutralize them.

All I'm saying is we should not underestimate China (or Russia), and we should not overestimate our own capabilities.

I agree that we should not underestimate our enemies. However, I do believe that, if given the ability to truly fight (without the so-called rules of war as you mention), we could beat their armies. Though I think the nuclear arsenals of these countries places a whole different shade on war with them.

Mutual assured destruction certainly changes things. I actually tend to worry more about internal conflicts than war with China or Russia. The U.S. is not in a good place at the moment in terms of political congruity. But that's a whole other can of worms.

I was going to see this film anyway, I'm just upset that North Korea didn't do this sooner. They could have stopped the Star Wars prequels.

I guess you can get it soon from pirates.

Now that i'm thinking about it could someone get Dennis Rodman to talk Kim Jong Un into convincing Sony Pictures to hand over the film rights of Spiderman to Disney?

Tbh i still want this to happen.

I'm sure Leo will agree with you.

I still don't think it's likely, but Kim does seem to have some fascination with Rodman.

I thought it was a hacker group (Guardians of Peace) that threatened terror attacks, which is why they aren't showing it. Also, note the hilarious irony of a group called Guardians of Peace who are threatening killing innocent people.

Yeah they're a Nk proxy group. Took the FBI 2 weeks to confirm NK's involvement in the hacks.

If I was in charge, I would have a blimp fly over NK and project the movie on various spots of the country via many movie projectors that were installed on the blimp.

Nah, that'd get shot down.

Instead, I'd have my people somehow interrupt their television broadcasts and have the movie play on all of their channels, after the movie finished the phrase Merry Christmas would flash across their tv screens.  :)

(It's probably a good thing I'm not in charge)

You can ask the SK to do that. They've been putting up big screens and military grade speakers along the border to terrorize NK with K-Pop years already, always rebuilding when NK shelled it, just to f*ck with 'em. I'm sure they'd love to oblige with your wish.

So, will NK target Youtube? I mean, some of the stuff posted there isn't flattering either.

If I were to make sacrifice of a work art for the sake of communism, it'd be a comedy by douche bag Seth Rogan. So I'm pleased with this.

* Salutes NK.

I guess I have to ask myself which matters less to me.. People getting offended over a crappy comedy movie or the fact that this will hurt said crappy comedy movie.

Tbh I really can't bring myself to care either way. Not entirely sure why NK or the hackers do either.
