This morning I was wondering how would react sports fans if sports around the world removed all statistics across the board?

Since it's pretty much unthinkable someone would be stupid enough to do that, I got a second question...

Why is it you did just that on an RPG?!?!?

I think the same thing when i watch sports. I wonder why the choice was made to not have monsters popping up from underneath the field to instakill players.

I'd watch that in a heartbeat.

Speaking of that, is it my imagination or did the Dcommander get a slight nerf?  Last few games I've been hit by the critter with weaker characters and not killed outright.  Also I've thought I've been in the jump zone and took no damage.  I wonder if they have reduced the kill radius on the jump zone and slightly nerfed damage?

Pretty sure the vast majority of people who watch sports don't give a **** about stats. Why would they show what only a tiny minority care about ? :^)

It is somewhat disappointing that we can't see more stats. Even simple things like: number of hits, average damage per character, highest damage dealt with each character, number of times you've been in the Fade... just little things like that would be interesting.

I'd actually love to have full telemetry on every match I've ever played, but I may not be normal in that desire. :P

I don't know. Ever heard of fantasy football? Pretty much revolves around stats.

Yeah, it's not like there are channels dedicated to sports and all they talk about is how many goals/points that athelete scored last game, how many he has this season or in his carreer, what are his records, which trophies he won, etc...

Let me ask you something, and this is a serious question, have you ever follow professional sports? Like at all?

The majority of people who "follow" sports don't give a hoot about fantasy football, at least here. I'm aware Fantasy football and maybe soccer is a bigger thing in the US though.

Yes kinda, but most of the time it's superficial numbers aka the thing we get in DAI : MP. I'm sure a minority of people who follow sports care about in-depth stats and instead mostly cheers for their favourite team regardless of the player stats. I'm not against stats in game though, I love them and would like more precise stats rather than just bars and ****. It was mostly a joke about catering to the lowest denominator.

They really need to give us more stats to work with. Just the page in SP with constitution, strength, etc. would be enough.

@beerfish
It could just be that you have more hp/armor than you had when you were first being 1 shot by the DC. Since getting a +200 hp belt I've been *barely* surviving the DC with squishy characters when I'm unfortunate enough to be hit.

BioWare doesn't really seem to like the "numbers game" anymore. A lot of the stuff with Mass Effect 3 needed to be datamined out.

There's probably somebody around here crazy enough to do that again once they get some time off that is coming up in about a week.

Its kind of the opposite as far as the numbers game goes. The rule system DA:I uses is 100% transparent in terms of what everything does and by how much it does it. There are no mystery equations or guess work that the community needs to reverse engineer. Honestly its kind of a refreshing change of pace from games that insist on having numbers and ridiculous equations just for the sake of numbers. Its more of a pen & paper system where everyone gets to know the rules ala D&D. Rather than a more MMO system where its like "Haha! Here's some numbers, figure it out, fuckers!" and the community has to run 3 months of combat log testing to figure out whether strength or dexterity is mathematically better for melee dps.

But that said, yes, for multi I would really like to have the full stat delve page of single player. >.>

The game doesn't actually tell me how much each stat gives, just that it does it. If I want to know that 1 CON = 5 HP then I have to swap items around and look at the changes on my attributes page or else look them up online.

I'm also expecting that a number of tooltips don't do quite exactly what they say they do =P

I've also noted a damage variance in your attacks that isn't mentioned anywhere in the game. My Mage in SP does 59 damage per hit with 28% attack, and my hits against the same targets don't always do the same damage.

lolwhut?

A lot of Templar powers mention extra effects vs. demons but don't give exact numerical values.

Combos. What are the exact numerical effects of the various ability combos? Do they vary with difficulty level? Enemy?

Armor penetration. Is is additive? Multiplicative?

That's just off the top of my head.

I seem to recall you were neck deep in that?

It was AMAZING how the community mined and correlated that data... National level intelligence agencies were no doubt jelous.

I'm looking through some of the files right now, actually.

Specifically the abilities list.

When I read the thread title I thought this would be a thread about something else lol.

I'm living life one day at a time without stats.

Sometimes I get the jones'n for my stats back but I just repeat the Serenity Prayer.

A statistics-sober life, one day at a time.

The Serenity Prayer is way too vague. Exactly how many "things" am I supposed to be serene about being unable to change? Without some hard numbers on these "things" I cannot be satisfied.

On topic: Why would bioware take the time to write down all of the stats and verify the tooltips when Cyonan will do it for them for free?

"Test the stats? Nah, if it's wrong the PCer's will figure it out in a week or two, month tops."
