This 100%.  I kept Stroud for the same reason you did, but Varric's face and attitude when you get back crushes you!  I also supported the Wardens which pisses off Cassandra, so all in a rather lousy outcome from that mission....

I can't think of any other choices I felt actual guilt for.  Certainly there were some tough choices, but I felt good about them.

Yeah I was going to pick Stroud, but I just KNEW that if I did that, Varric was going to make me feel awful. So I caved in to pre-guilt.

In Under Her Skin I kept Erasthenes prisoner in that bubble and he said I was doing to him what Corypheus was doing to Calpernia. Sorry :(

The middle option when dealing with Leliana when she questions you at Haven. She's legitimately telling you her grief and you basically tell her to seek the Chantry's equivalent of a therapist. Not even a big fan of hers but that was pretty mean (and unintended, but lol paraphrased dialogue wheel). Even if you don't want to hear it, having your spymaster holding unresolved issues could get in the way of duty. Also, it was my first character, who I intended to be a pretty nice guy. Very out of character for him.

Having Cullen go back on lyrium. Seeing him suffer like that bothered me (and really gives sympathy points for the templars since they all struggle with it, and probably accounts for more than one Templar losing it). Plus, the poor man's suffered enough since Origins.

My '****** off Cassandra' as much as possible character. Especially given she's openly self aware, second guesses herself, and shows remorse. Kind of feels bad pouring salt and agitating her further when she already feels crappy for stupid stuff she's done looking back (though the drunk scene was funny).

Killing off some of my Hawkes. I'll admit I hate killing my own characters off. Mostly for story variables and what not but it feels far more final with them than it does a premade character like Stroud or Alistair.

Not in DA:I. But in MASS EFFECT 1 where u can kill the rachnni queen I did. You effectively comment genocide if u do. Had to stop playing for a day because I was sick at what I had done

Letting Backwall stay in my group. On a personal level I hate betrayers and liars, but in that game I had Blackwall built up as one of my major tanks that I took with me on my quests so I had to keep him. Not this play thru though. He'll get what's coming to him.

I felt bad I let the Chargers die. I really wanted that Qunari alliance, and I regretted that decision.

Making Cullen take Lyrium, exiling the wardens because I really feel they were hardcore misguided but I had to choose it for my second pt for the variation from my first,

aaand weirdy enough, as a devout Andrastian, telling everyone I'm the herald and that my word is her word even after I learned I'm a fraud in the fade....

I feel that the alliance with the Qunari is the right thing to do for the Inquisition but I have huge guilt over letting the Charges die for it especially because in a way you sacrifice Iron Bull as well.

Yes, leaving Hawke in the fade where she said "safe harbors Isabella" and after talking to Varric. So I played through DA2 again and Legacy to make up for it. And.. I will never again leave Hawke in the fade. Ever. She deserves better.

Yeah first pt, I did templars side knowing I would likely risk the mages. When Fiona showed up on the battlefield at haven I was like "well, I kinda did that."

Keeping Blackwall around after he pointed out that my Inquisition was now 'corrupt'.

The worst of all Bioware games, though, was simply not romancing Steve in my first ME3 playthrough. Everyone he loves is dead...my bleeding heart couldn't help itself.

I felt bad with leaving Hawke behind in the fade but then I replayed that part and Stroud stayed behind

but I only felt bad because I thought of Isabella. Hawke was so unlikable in this game

Okay, one of those rare times where a game made me feel really feel guilty. Saw this post http://forum.bioware...1#entry18149623and followed a link in it. It deals with dragonlings who don't go hostile after you kill the mother.

Literally, OP's post. I encouraged her, then I got to Adamant and was like, "Wait... ohgod, I condemned her to death."

The first time the screen indicated that Cole disapproved of a decision. The writing for his character was so good that it had me question my choices carefully, then speak to him afterwards for clarification. Excellence in storytelling, IMO.

No, none that I can think of.

I mean, sure.   There was Blackwall when I decided to break up with him.   And I decided to break up with him because like the second line of dialogue was, "I know that you've had feelings for me for years!"   Whoah whoah whoah, there chief.   I just met you like five minutes ago.  If this is how you start a relationship, I'd hate to see how you end that same relationship.  So, I broke it off with him (without incident, thank god).  I'd hate for my elf mage to have to put him down.  I mean, it's not that I don't like the guy....   He's just creepy.  And I don't mean creepy in a good way.

So, I started romancing Serah, who just does and says things from the heart.

EDIT :  Oh, yah, I keep on seeing all this stuff about the fade.   I don't see why this is a big issue.   For someone that hasn't read any of the books, the choice was simple.  Leave Stroud dangling in the wind.  Get Hawke, and GTFO.

In my second run-through,  I did something truly horrible in the Exalted Plains.   I did the deal with the demon Imshael expecting the game would force me to kill him anyway.   That didn't happen, the demon disappeared, I got a cool rune, and thought "sweeeet, that was easy".    Then a couple of hours later, went to find Ser Michel  -  oops,   deader than a dead thing.    I felt soo bad.

And at my first war table afterwards,   Cullen said the circumstances of his death were a Stain on the Inquisition.    Yikes.    Don't make my mistakes, people.    Don't deal with demons,   Ever.

I didn't exile the Wardens and then regretted that. Went back, fixed it, felt much better.

It was a bug and there was a big can of Raid right above it.

You're joking. Giving in to demons' temptations is a lot more fun.

When I made Alexius Tranquil ... Oh man, between Dorian getting so upset and the mage blowback, I was dealing with that choice for a long time, and I felt bad about it. The thing is that my Quizzie thought and thought about it and really felt it was the most appropriate choice for him. He expected to die, so that's not an answer. Letting him live with his power intact is only a serious temptation to rebel, especially since he can tamper with time, so that's not an option. And while the emotional impact of knowing his son, his reason for selling out the entire world, is dead will be lost, he will have to live with that knowledge as a Tranquil.

So I felt that was the best option for a true punishment. That and having to daily serve those he would have enslaved.

My first inquisitor saved the Qunari dreadnought.

I was mentally prepared for the scene where the Chargers get slaughtered, but I was not prepared for Cole's "horns pointing up" line when I talked to him in the tavern afterward. Ouch.
