Let me know, do you play on a console or PC?

I'm playing on PC and enjoying it. I don't understand why people complain about pc controls.. You can bind whatever you like and, if you really don't like the gameplay still, then just plug-in a controller. They give you options for a reason. If you are still unsatisfied after trying these two things, then you simply have a problem with the game itself and not the pc controls. That being said, I'm a happy kb&m customer here. Sure, I have some complaints about the game, but the controls are fine :)

You cannot bind mouse buttons and there is no button to walk on pc. Plus I'm pretty bad with the controller because I never played on a console. So yeah, I have a choice. One between lacking controls or lacking skill that I would have to balance with lower difficulty. Nice. -.-

PS4 player here.

Love the game, adore the CC, but hate the fact that I will not have decent hair for my characters, if BioWare doesn't decide to put a little work for those who can't afford a new pc (mine is a laptop three years old, can't effort another powerful enought to play DAI) and release something that doesn't make me decide to not look anymore on internet, since I will see or the same hairstyle I like on everyone else, or modded good looking hairstyles I can't have  <_<

PC player.

I don't use mouse and keyboard though, but that has nothing to do with the controller being 'better'. It has everything to do with the fact I play on a big ass tv from my bed, mostly, and I don't have a clue how to use mouse and keyboard while being lazy as hell and laying down :P

If I could, I would, because mouse and keyboard is way better. (it's not? Really? You think that pressing 3 buttons to use a potion is better than just pressing one... or even better, just clicking the mouse to use a potion? Ok, lol)

Friend of mine had monitor, keyboard and mousepad fixed to a hydraulic arm above his bed. When he wanted to play, one press of a button moved the entire contraption right down over his bed so he could play.

That said...

I play on PC, but I'm quite certain the reason that combat feels so clunky is platform independent.

Firstly, the hitboxes are apparently just human sized, and sometimes the creature's model gets in the way of reaching the hitbox with melee attacks. Ranged attacks are much easier to land, but melee can be a real test of personal anger management.

Secondly, combat AI is... suboptimal. The simplification of AI tactics removed a level of enjoyment for me, and things like your NPC tank missing a shield charge and running off over a hill are just ridiculous.

Nothing of the above has anything to do of what platform one plays on or which input device is used.

That.... is a little disturbing. :D

PC, kb+m, 100+ hours enjoyed nearly ever one. No noticeable bugs, crashed once after patch 2 but before hotfix. The controls took a bit of getting used to. I play combats entirely in tactical mode and the camera can be a little annoying and I could do with better companion tactics, but it's not really bad.

FWIW I've been playing cRPG's since Betrayal at Krondor  and TTRPG's a lot longer than that. DAI isn't the best CRPG in history (BG2 probably still holds that crown due to David Warner/Irenicus), but it's a good one.

What are the 360 issues? Were they fixed with the patch? My friend just got if for 360 and said the only last-gen issue she has are less NPCs sometimes (barely) and ugliness, compared to my PC (runs fine on my rig, but I know it depends on specs and what card you have etc,) and PS4 versions.

No they fixed some but not lot.

There are the issues: http://forum.bioware...ues/?p=17813110 Some have more and some have less problems.

PC.

I love the game, and I never even considered using a controller. KBM works just fine.

I play every encounter 100% in Tac Cam. I never engage in action combat. I wish the Tac Cam had a greater range of motion (so it could look up, like the Action Cam can), but I have no desire at all to stop using the Tac Cam.

Die hard PC player who finally buckled... Playing this on my new PS4 after reading that it was made for consoles anyway. :P

I love the story, the diverse areas, the looks.

Love the companions, the voice actors and the music.

Love the cutscenes and the emotional moments.

Huge areas and exploration are great.

Looks are simply fantastic.

I love how everything you do has some -even the most cosmetic - consequence (Areas becoming pacified, Keeps occupied, camps established etc)

The controls are plain terrible. Jump and run sequences (the shard collection, oh the shard collection... ) with abysmal jump and walk precision is just... meh

Companion AI is terrible. Suiciding complete idiots. Lack of tactical control from DA:O and even DA 2 is a complete facepalm. Tactical camera basically pointless.

Limitation to 8 mappable abilities almost kills the game for playing a mage.

Oversimplified combat against boring, insane hitpoint sinks is terrible.

Same for dumbed down character development. Could I please distribute my attribute points how *I* see fit?

Being unable to switch weapons or abilities in combat? With everyone and their mommies  resistant to some type of damage? are you kidding me?

And the respawning trivial critters annoy me to kingdom come

So, kinda conflicted actually.

We PC players are "bitching" because this game is not PC friendly at all, it's basically a console port so we have a good reason to be upset. If it was the other way around I'm sure you would be the one "bitching". But the controls aren't even the major issue I have with this game because after a few hours of playing it I adjusted to it (still needs to be fixed though). But there's no point in repeating all the problems this game has since all you need to do is look at the other threads on this forum.

Playing on PC and "doing all the b**ching"... not really, just because that helps nothing. I'm focusing on what I like, and then will move on to other games. The writing is captivating (mostly), the landscapes helps me forget the negatives (I try at least) and... that's it. It's more like a work, than having fun -- but have to do it once, for the sake of previous games story parts. Will be happy when it's all over.

I'm an impoverished pre-historic dirt farmer playing on a 360 and I think the game is fine. I don't really like open world games, so that's where Inquisition loses major points from me.

On PC, played a hundred hours with mouse and keyboard, love it.

There are some things about the PC controls that could be better, but it's still a fantastic game.

PC. I tried the KBM to see what people were complaining about, but I didn't have any significant issues compared with the controls with Origins. But then gamepad is my preference, and I play mostly with a 360 pad, on my TV.

The biggest problem for PC gamers seems to be instability, crashing, etc. I can't account for it, myself (I'm making my way through my second playthrough now, and I haven't had a single crash the entire time), but I know people who are still getting a crash or two every session (so every few hours. Not enough to seriously impact the experience, but ya know).

I played in on the PS4  It's a solid game, not stellar.  And the tactical controls are just as broken on the consoles as they are no the PC.  It's just that on the consoles, you can at least play the game without needing the tactical controls.  I don't even know how that's possible on the PC.  With tactical mode broken, you need a controller to play this game.

PC user. My issues have been well documented elsewhere.  To sum it up, I think that to get the most out of any RPG, you need to have it optimized for a computer.  A game optimized for a console will never be able to match everything a CRPG can do.  So having a game that was obviously ported from a console to the PC, means that PC players are figuratively playing with one hand behind our backs, to make our systems equal to the console.

This.

PC UI and console UI are very different at the core. The one we've got was designed for console. So, I am glad the game was smoothly enough ported to PC - thank you, BW! - but I am pissed off and b*ching (as OP politely put) because we (PC players) were lied to. Developers said it many times in different media that PC UI was designed individually and specifically for PC. Should they worned us from the start that this is a port and they do not have budget or whatever for separate UI - PC gamers would accept it easily I believe.

PC

For the record, I enjoy DA:I.

I don't mind devs chasing the money (business > love of creating games since the 90s), but if you're going to release a version on PC, at least play it on PC, test it on PC, and ensure the UI is efficient for PC. I'll adapt, but it's annoying to play a game that I know, from playing the dev's past games, could have been designed better.

PC Player.

Using an XBox 360 control to keep my sanity. Even with it, I can see how frustrating it would be to use a mouse and keyboard.

I am enjoying this game more than I thought I would. Still, I get all the complaints about it. And I miss how complex the tactics used to be. This is a PC port: a good one, but a port all the same. It will be the game to take me into the new year.

I also miss "Enchantment!"

And by that I mean Sandal.

So many people are complaining about the game, and it would seem to be nearly 100% PC users doing all the b**ching.

Oh, I'm sorry, I hope you won't complain if your car comes only in right hand drive because the manufacturer happens to make cars for the UK market, and just sells the same cars in the US market.

Seriously, why do you let software companies get away with this **** when you wouldn't accept it from other companies (car manufacturers make LHD and RHD cars for this very reason - so why are you so happy to see Bioware screwing half their customers? Just because you happen to be lucky enough to be using the console they happen to target?)

I'm a console gamer and I can tell you the game is still broken. Not unplayable, but still unpolished and clearly rushed.
