All the homosexual characters in recent BioWare games, DAI included, is...disconcerting for me. I'm of the persuasion that homosexual acts are sinful, and would prefer to avoid things that support that. But, that's my problem, not the developers. I'd prefer it to not be in the games, but I'm just one customer out of millions, so why should they care about my opinion? If I want, I'm free to not play the games.
I don't think it's a matter of BioWare "shoving it down our throats". For the most part, it's about broadening the appeal and giving LGBT players a romance they can connect with, which is commendable on a certain level. Stuff like Krem and Dorian gets a little preachy, but Dorian's whole quest was actually pretty tastefully done in my opinion. Krem though, there's no real reason for Krem to be in the game and have attention drawn to "his" gender. Qunari suddenly being a trans society and your character only being allowed to briefly bat an eyelash at the whole thing in a medieval-esque setting feels gratuitous. That's rather close to having an agenda that they're shoving down players' throats.
I cannot like your post because I don't agree with the "homosexual acts are sinful" part. The second paragraph of your post, I agree with. Kinda rolled my eyes at the school-house-rock moments in the dialogue around Krem in particular.
As someone who--and I know I'm not alone in this--just automatically pick all the Investigative options to experience the most out of the wonderful writing in Bioware games, I felt like I was ambushed in saying daft things that are very hamfisted ways of setting me up for a lecture. It was like OK I get it gee whiz, excuuuuuuse me for not knowing what an "Aqunathalak" (spelling??) was, I'm a sheltered Free Marches noble trapped in a circle tower all my life, don't have a PHD in (PC-ified) Qunari culture studies.
I made a post elsewhere about being surprised by the Dorian conversation option of "What do you mean you enjoy the company of men?" Really? Would you really not know? It's just...idk, OBVIOUSLY meant to be a "teaching moment." I would've preferred it to be more artful and subtle, not because "omg it's being shoved down my throat," but just from a "I like to see better writing than that" perspective.
