Hey guys, I have a question for those that have played a sword and shield inquisitor. Is the gameplay fast paced at all? 2h is kind of slow so I'm wondering if a sword and shield warrior is as bland as some say or if there is something special within it. Thank you again!

I feel like it's fast paced, your weapon swing speed is faster, and your three primary attacks all have short cooldowns. Plus Payback Strike clears status effects, so you never really get knocked down or stunned without being able to instantly clear it and retaliate.  Two of your three attacks,  Upgraded Shield bash and Lunge and Slash also function as gap closers.  You may not hit as hard, but it's pretty fast.

In my experience with weapon and shield, is that it can be as slow or as fast as you want.

Slow path aka Tank 'n' Spank:

If you build W/S tree mainly for shield wall +dmg reduction passives then go Vanguard. Combats is slow but you never die due to your ability to generate guard at a moments notice and with decent armor you rarely use health potions (unless on elites/bosses/dragons) when fighting opposition your level. You main source of damage is you basic attack combo while you abilities are utility skills mainly taunts, guard generation. This is even before getting Champion specialization. If this choice is to your liking you should give it a try.

Pros:

Excellent Tank for team members (War Cry, Challenge, *Bodyguard)

Excellent Defence (With the guard gain from Vanguard tree + shield wall nothing besides magic attacks should ever give a reason to pause. I mean at times you will have so much guard your trying 2 lose it.)

*Optional not required but works wonder for 2h warrirors and melee rogues in you party.

Note: While this is a well functioning working build it will leave you as a player terrible bored probably the best build for any AI tank. This was the spec i used in my first play thru on Normal.

Fast path aka Relentless Attacker:

This build is you pick up all all W/S skills then jump over to Battlemaster Tree picking up grappling chain, *war horn, *horn of valor personal fav aka Horn of Gondor and *combat roll. You use Chain to start fights, sometimes you can snag enemy and if none of their allies are near they won't come to assist. From their you just Shield Bash, to knock em back Lunge N Strike, get back in range/extra dmg with passive. Get out a few basic attack swings for you stamina regain before the enemy recovers. Naturally, at anytime in this rotation you will need to put up you block. Follow it up with payback strike if possible save it till any all melee attacker close in on you to get some much needed breathing room. Used this on my 2nd play thru found combat more enjoyable. By enjoyable I mean more strenuous

* Chosen skills are a bit more situational. Chain doesnt work on target who are immune to physical effects while Warhorn doesnt work on target immune to Fear effects check the tactical view. Use combats roll and Horn of Valor as filler skills.

Pros:

Strong offence due to Shield Bash + Lunge N strike (also both are ability detonators) also battlemaster passives

Easy to Initiate combat via Grappling chain

Nice Knockdowns Payback Strike after you struck, Grappling Chain w/ upgrade, Shield Bash capable of hitting multiple targets if close enough

Short cooldown timers, W/S offensive moves are  all 8 seconds, Chain is 12.

I hope this helps and if you want me to give any more detail let me know.
