Firestorm causing key not dropping

While I am not debunking the 'last animal' theory, I am saying in the Videos posted by PenguinFetish, they used Firestorm to kill the final enemy and that is most likely the culprit. Plenty of matches last night I played with Elementalist Firestorming the final group and no animals were present or were made sure to kill before others and they key still did not drop.

 

So if you are running into the key not dropping bug a lot, try avoiding an Elementalist who uses Firestorm in your party and see if you have this problem.

 

TLDR: Killing enemies while under Firestorm CC or with Firestorm itself could cause one of the Key Not Dropping issues. Check it out yourselves and post back here. 

 

TLDR2: DO NOT PLAY WITH ANYONE USING FIRESTORM AND 99% OF KEY BUGS GO AWAY.

I played a few matches with no Elementalist and the key still didn't drop. I've also played with an Elementalist and had the key drop. I do not believe this issue since the update is class specific.

I've noticed the key not dropping with no Elementalist's and the final kill NOT being a new monster. 

 

That said, it is significantly more likely with an ele using firestorm or killing a new monster last.

I have found that it has to do with creature spawn not creatures themselves. More often than not it is a creature spawning into a wall or above the level that doesn't appear on radar and prevents the key from dropping because there is a enemy on the field still.

Yep. Anytime the last enemy is a wolf stuck in a corner, the key never drops. (In my experience anyway)

The mere existence of the Elementalist in the game is not the problem. Please read the title and OP before posting.

Here is the problem, that is a totally separate bug you are talking about. Because a result can be obtained from 2 or 3 different reasons, does not mean all the reasons are the same.

The video clearly shows me killing the last animal, not the firestorm. The killstreak icon even pops up.

Was the animal not CC'd by Firestorm at the time?

Dozens of threatening and perilous runs since the dlc. Only one time has the key failed to drop for me. That one run was the only run with an elementalist. Just sayin.

That would make sense, though I have yet to experience the bug aside from undead red templar shadows.

Key didn't drop and we didn't have an Elementalist on our team. I doubt this is the problem.

It could be that it's not the only case to cause keys not dropping.

I remember specifically bugging out the keys even before the destruction expansion with playing elementalists.

Fire Storm and Red Templar Shadows seem to be the culprit from time to time, maybe this can be tested out.

I doubt the problem is as easy as some of you are claiming with "Kill animals first and not last", "Don't Firestorm" and Don't Walking Bomb" in case the enemies don't get detected as dead.

 

Most likely it's a combination of enemies spawning in places which are not accessible by players, enemies getting knocked out of our visibility and/or going invulnerable. It's good that the community is trying to figure out what the culprit is but if it turns to "Votekick all elementalists" mentaility, then that's a pretty crap way of adressing the issue.

 

Last night I played 8 games, 1 of them bugged out and the animals died before the faction mobs. The other games, I played the Elementalist 3 times and didn't experience these issues. I also played 2 games as Necromancer and no issues there as well.

 

Just as a precaution, the Community would turn pretty sour if we started kicking every elementalist in fear of them using their abilities.

The long story short is there is like a better way to setup the "key drop" conditions than how it currently exists. So far we have 3+ possibly unrelated was for this to bug out. There will likely be more in the future.

 

My personal gut feeling is that the Frostbite engine and the way BioWare has written the AI status tracking is having problems figuring out that a unit is in a "Dead" state. Which may require attacking the problem at that level.

 

It would help us, help BioWare, if they could be very detailed about how the "Key Drop" condition is supposed to work.

This is exactly what I'm going to do going forward. He (and Firestorm) is very obnoxious anyway.

In my opininion there should be a kind of alternative like reset the stage kind of option. i've actually encountered key not dropped two times during on session. Whenever the host leaves the stage resets and you get to go again. that one time we got to the next stage when it happened again.

and i was playing an ele with firestorm and pretty sure  didn't firestorm the last pack of wolves that kept the key to them selves - they just popped up after everybody was allready killed by the way

JRand and I played a dozen games tonight, Xbox 360 Threatening.  We got the key bug one time, the Wave 5 Templar bug one time, and that was it.  Pretty uneventful otherwise, although I did lose all game sound around game 3 or 4 and never got it back the rest of the night.

 

He was a Legionaire, I was a Keeper, though all games.  Our pugs were usually a mix of Archers, Hunters, Arcane Warriors, one Katari, and an Alchemist.  The one time we got the Key Bug our pugs were Archer and Alchemist.  It was Wave 4 of Elvish Ruins.  Treasure Room mobs were the last to be killed.

The last three pugs where I got the key bug all had an elementalist using firestorm. In most of the games where I got the invincible assassin glitch before the dlc either I or a pug was playing elementalist. I have no idea how it would cause the glitch, but it has been quite consistent so far. I have stopped playing elementalist and I will probably start kicking them from my lobbies.

Played 16 games with friends yesterday, no Firestorms allowed and we got the key glitch once with the Templar assassins. 

 

On a side note: I had a lot of fun playing my Elementalist without Firestorm, they are still powerful characters.

Playing an ele without firestorm is like playing an assassin without daggers or an archer without a bow. Imho ofc :)

Guys, it is working as intended.........I actually haven't ran into the issue at all last night, We did not have any Ele on our group either......who knows.   I just hope that it is fixed and hope I don't run into that issue.  But I will be playing as Ele tonight and see if it does happen.  Played at least 10 matches with Archer, Assassin, Reaver and Keeper, no issues.

Hey,

 

seen this thread and I thought I'd chime in.  I play an ele, I use firestorm, almost always use it on the last pull before the key drops as well.  I've played 10 games since downloading the dlc.  Of those 10, only 2 bugged out.

 

First time we were fighting a giant and when his lifebar went to zero he was still standing there.  You could hit him with spells, but he wouldn't flop over dead, just stood there with an empty lifebar.

 

Second time was against red templars, it just didn't drop.

 

For me it doesn't add up that firestorm is causing the key drop bug as I use it to clear the last pulls of every zone almost all the time.  (Unless some bad pull happened and I needed crowd control at that very moment.)
