What do you think happened in the Anderfels post-game?

So in the epilogue, Hawke/Stroud/Loghain/Alistair goes off to the Anderfels with the Grey Wardens and then there's nothing heard from there for a while.

What do you think has happened? Some kind of internal strife? I can imagine Hawke trying to straight up murder the Wardens because he suddenly seems to hate all blood mages (and the Wardens are creations of blood magic), but I can't imagine any of the surviving Wardens to do this, but there may have been a power struggle.

We know so little about the Anderfel wardens, their antics and existence seem detached and independent from the Orlesian wardens who were duped by Corpheus. Either way I can't see Hawke managing to murder a whole fortress of them, but I can imagine Loghain or Stroud carrying out a coup or something.

It's an interesting plot point for sure but I'm not sure where it's going or what makes sense.

Frankly I'm more interested in the implications for the region as a whole, as aren't the Wardens essentially defacto leaders of the Anderfels at this point? Not hearing anything from them does not spell out good things for that region at all, though it also points towards the next game probably taking place in the north.

Like...what has happened? No way could Hawke slaughter everyone in Weisshaupt himself, so it point to some kind of insurrection or thing.

I'm thinking the next game could be based around the Tevinter trying to take control of the Anderfels in crisis, the game will definitely be set up north though (since the ruins of Arlathan are up there too).

The Anderfell wardens seem distant from everyone not in the Anderfels and at this point given the revelations in the series I half expect the first warden to turn out be a magister darkspawn controlling the wardens for his own ends. Still we don't know much about the Anderfels, we know they have a king there, its a really unpleasant place and that the wardens wield a lot of power there as much as the king does. What we know is that if you expel the southern wardens they disappear along with the northern wardens but if you don't they break with the first warden and rumors of a secret war between the southern and northern wardens spread.

Instead of trying to contribute in a serious way to the discussion I will attempt to earn me some cheap laughs with a very bad joke:

First thing they did in Anderfels was to reform the Wardens to attract more recruits to bolster their ranks again. The first reform was adressing the dreadful Joining-Ritual, which from now on is always performed by Isabella and friends, newest Warden-Members.

BA-DUM!

I would join the Wardens if Isabela fed me Darkspawn blood in a sensual way.

Warden civil war.  You have those that like the power, holding themselves apart from the world, and freedom to do "anything necessary", and those that realize the Wardens need to reform and participate in the world more than simply fighting Darkspawn.

I don't think Hawke will have overly much to do with what's going on up there.  For some people s/he is dead now (if not dead in the Fade and they some how made it out/will make it out they likely didn't just jaunt up to Weisshaupt for the heck of it).  If your Hawke survived hopefully it's not a way to kill Hawke off if you didn't do it for BW in the Fade.  I wouldn't be happy with "and for a weak reason that made no real sense Hawke goes up to Weisshaupt, gets caught up in a fight between Wardens and dies" ending for Hawke.

The place was probably overrun by darkspawn or something like that. The usual.

It would be pretty easy to turn this into a setup for a DLC... utilizing whomever wasn't left behind in the fade plus other warden-related plot elements.

We've got a set of Wardens coming to terms with the events surrounding the Fifth Blight, a politically ambitious First Warden fresh off the acquisition of Amaranthine, a heavily religious nation observing, from a distance, the struggles of the core Chantry and the rise of a rival Inquisition.

I'd suspect the First Warden is making the long-hinted play for the throne of the Anderfels, and that the actions of the Inquisition can influence those events. The Orlesian Wardens, if preserved, would represent natural opposition to the northern wardens attempting some sort of power grab.

The revival of the griffons created two factions among the Wardens, the 'hell yeah I want a griffon' cool kids and the boring 'broody broody death death death griffons are for kids' Wardens. Yeah.

:P I have no idea what's going to happen in Anderfels, but this is what I like to think happens. Wardens in Anderfels be all like "Ill stab you" "no Ill stab you" blah blah and here comes my Warden Commander of Ferelden, Hero of Ferelden, Arlessa of Amaranthine, stopping the stupid arrogant power hungry wardens at Weishaupt. Job finished. Next they find cute baby griffons and then the Dragon Griffon Age starts(why not since Dragon Age is becoming one of the "lets just do everything and have happy ancient elven gods and dragons age darkspawn blah blah mages yeah GRIFFONS")  :) Oh and then 6th Blight happens because wardens. Oh and then there is my Lavellan whose all like Hell yeah! I'll help a sister out and destroy an army of Darkspawn :D but then OH NO ANOTHER ARCHEDEOM!?!?!? 2 archdemons at once then mega blight WHOA "destroy thedas I hate all things with sould darkspawn rule BWAHAH" Oh look 2nd archdemon is all Solas' fault bcuz he be messing up a lot lately. sorry I really really really really like the grey warden story and inquisition

There has been hints in the past that the first warden had his teeth wet by the implications of Amaranthine and feel like maybe he can rune Anderfels proper himself.

So, Wardens that want power vs. Wardens that beleive that they should not be political.

Oh with my game it was just the usual. Hawke barely took two steps into the place and crap just hit the fan real bad. It's like this bad luck cloud just follows Hawke everywhere.

I have this horrible feeling they're going to try to turn Hawke into a warden.

Also, I have read that Anders isn't his real name, but a nickname because he comes from Anderfels. So there's that random fact. Maybe he's hiding over there if you left him alive and he's done some more crap.

Well, Anders is a warden. I wouldn't be surprised if the Wardens found him and are holding him prisoner for his actions in the Mage vs. Templar and running away from the Wardens. That really hurt my warden commander's feeling ):< Anders didn't like the way I ran things and made him fight darkspawn so he left ;(

True that Anders is a nickname. If Hawke was romancing Anders, s/he talks about how s/he hates leaving Anders alone but the Corypheus situation left him/her no choice. So Hawke knows where Anders is and they're hiding out together. He's just faithfully waiting for Hawke to get back from meeting the Inquisitor. So I'm sure he's not up to anything in the Anderfels. I don't think he even remembers much of it, let alone thinks of it as home.

I can only imagine it's some sort of schism between the First Warden and another faction. Griffons are likely involved.

I absolutely loved the Architect, and I was so sad that he never showed up beyond the expansion. Especially because dude is obviously up to something. I would love it if he's the Big Bad for DA4.

And there are more of them out there! Corypheus (the ringleader), the Architect...potentially five others? Well...four, for sure. That obscure codex quoting some dwarven great-grandpappy talking about three magisters talking, and one running off while the one ate the other gave me chills! Creepy stuff, but I can't help but wonder where the others are, what they've been up to, and what would happen if you got them all together again...

Oh, the architect. I hate that bastard. Also, the wardens appear to be walking a dangerous line.. Too much medling, blood magic and weird ****. If a blight doesnt happen soon, i can see most of thedas turning their backs on them, like what happaned in ferelden.
