I was stuck at two gems on my first game because I didn't even know that there was a problem getting them but now I'm on my second game, at level 4 and went to the area where the templers and mages are fighting, in the Hinterlands, and kept killing templers until I got all 4. It didn't even take long at all. I made sure I didn't close out any quests concerning these groups, so that the templers would keep on spawning.

I wish that they would fix "The Hinterlands - Hinterlands Tapestry Requisition" quest, I'd killed all of the Templars/Mages before receiving the items required (Decorative Gems) and drove them all out. Because of this I can no longer complete the quest and it will sit in my journal forever until Bioware or the Devs do something about it (please do!). If you are a completionist like myself, then this will drive you insane as it is currently doing with me.

I completed that requisition several times. It doesn't matter one bit, I advise you to skip requisitions altogether once you have done the first few. They have no impact on the game whatsoever and only take up your time in exchange for power you don't really need. I haven't even started the Winter Palace and I have a surplus of 300 power just from side quests, killing dragons etc.

Apparently the game can't reliably check the tables when you do this, and you can end up with inappropriate spawns (such as templars and mages, even long after you've cleared out both camps).
As others have suggested, the requisitions really don't matter, but this could allow you to get the remaining gems if you feel you have to complete it.

I have never had a Ferelden lock drop in either of my games so once I got that requisition, that took care of the Hinterlands obsession for me since that requisition is never going to get filled until I start a new game and only then, if those locks start falling. ![]()

I don't remember which particular enemy type drops the locks, but I know I got enough to fill the requisition during the early parts of the game.
I was almost too late to get the tapestries, but I lucked out with that single node of obsidian in Hafter's Woods, letting me acquire and fill the tapestry requisition just before wiping out the renegade templars.

Hi guys. I try A LOT to complete this quest in Hinterlands, but i found 3 decorative gems, but need 4. I spend 5 hours to find, but didn't achieve anything. Can you add a possibility to abandon such type of quest or maybe to buy this items from vendors? I beg you!
I hate these kinds of quests. DA:I is full of them. Malacite, intestines, all those rare drops that dry up entirely if you clear out enemies before looking for them in advance.

I know this is an old topic, but I din't think it was necessary to start another with the same title and purpose. I'm well past reaching Skyhold, with everything but this complete in the Hinterlands, and now there is no way for me to finish the quest. Thirty times I have reloaded a save near to Maura's house where templars should still spawn, but to no avail.
I am an obsessive completionist and this irks me greatly. Please, Bioware, could you let a merchant sell decorative gems? Or more generally, add an abandon quest feature so we can get broken/failed/impossible quests out of our journals for good? I, and I imagine many others, would be most grateful.

Just use the item duplication glitch to... oh wait... that only works for those who didn't download anything beyond patch 2.
Well the requisition doesn't matter, and it will repeat, which will be even more difficult to fill. So just skip it. If you can, complete it, but save before asking for a new requisition. Reload if you get a repeat.

If I could go back, I would skip it, but at the time I didn't realise that it was a repeating order. Now Hinterlands is history, there are no templars to fight and loot for gems, and I can't complete the requisition. I just want it out of my journal. It would even be fine if it was just in the Collections section and out of the way.

I have played almost 800hrs and in that time found 2 decorative gems, so have never completed that requisition. I have however received 100's of the same item such as Merkel's Fist. It's just super ridiculous in regard to the random loot thing. Oh I made a mistake in that mission go back do it again and get half the coin I got last time!!!! WTF??

It is ridiculous. You should not be prevented from completing a tiny side quest just because you've finished a major one. Even if some quest does become impossible, it should automatically be removed from the journal or at least offer the option to be abandoned.

It would be better if things like decorative gems and Ferelden lock were dropped by all mages and templars not just the ones in the Hinterlands.
Or a vender who sells all requisition ingredients.
