So how long is this going to be "in Beta?"

So Keep is still listed as being "in Beta." I've noticed that word doesn't seem to mean what it used to. Beta testing used to mean "we know this isn't done yet, so we're going to let you play this before we sell it, get your feedback, and use that to release a stable product with the fewest bugs possible." These days, it seems to mean "we know this isn't ready yet, but we're going to sell it to you anyway, with this little disclaimer on it so you can't blame us for all the bugs in it."

But, for the sake of discussion, let's say I'm totally out of line with that. Let's just go with the classic definition of beta. That means that Dragon Age: Inquisition launched with a crucial part of its functionality in a non-ready state. Kind of seems unprofessional.

When is this going to be out of beta? When is it going to be "completed?" The issue of it recognizing DAII Signature edition content, for example, was found almost as soon as people started using it...

Beta means not feature complete, and it might never be feature complete until the end of the Dragon Age series as every two weeks they update.

KSP is in Alpha and thats very playable.

Then how do you define "feature complete"? By your definition, every program could be in beta forever as they continue to add new content.

Wraith, your definition is exactly what it has become. I'm sure there's a good faith effort to get things done, but a company is usually willing to push back schedules only so far. Some of that is the publisher, no doubt.

No idea, but thats the best definition for beta I can find for the keep. Feature complete mybe when they stop adding tiles?

Then it will be Beta until they retire the IP. You could say it's "launch feature complete", meaning that everything they wanted at launch is in there, but it also needs to work as intended and advertised.

I'll ask.

Honestly, the DA:I part of it should have been complete with the release of the title, the fact that it wasn't is disappointing, IMO.

Maybe two weeks after launch to avoid spoilers

I suppose, if you really need a log of what you've done, but it is the least important part.

I get the impression it's been complete for a while.  Or at the very least 99% complete.  I'm positive they said the reason they haven't made the tiles open to the public has pretty much been to avoid spoilers.

I feel like we're going to see them sometime in the beginning/mid January.  That'd give people 2 months to finish the game, before all of the possible outcomes to every quest are revealed to the public.

Plus the team don't want to be working on christmas and new year
