I've played Origins completely through about 5 or 6 times.  I absolutely LOVED it every single time.  Getting to know the nuances of each characters story line, etc... was a blast.

I played DA2 1 time and never touched it again.  It was barely ok.

I've played Inquisition completely through 1 time - about 150 hours.  I really liked it a lot, but I'm not really left with the urge to immediately start again and create a new character and find all new things.  How I feel is this...  I feel like besides learning few new combat skills from whatever new type of character I create... well, there is not much "new" content, dialogue, etc... to find or discover.

Am I missing something?  Plus, even though I found every stinking shard, I could not open the last door to get all my resistances... grrrrrrrr.  :)

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Well, you can romance somebody else on your 2playthrough, do another side of mage/templar conflict, say ''Well, sh**'' 3 times and, ofc, DO ALL SIDE QUESTS IN HINTERLANDS.

Hinterlands is love, Hinterlands is life.

I find that I really have to force myself to do a rerun of inquisition. The side quests are shite and the main story is too short.

DA:O marginally better story (if at all), but significantly better executed due to focus/cohesion.

DA:I better game, but story lacks focus.

Well, as far as 'new' content goes, I would say DAI has the largest amount of content so far of any of the DA games. I've already found some new areas/dungeons/puzzles in my current file that I totally missed last time. Of course, that's only if you like that kinda stuff. If you're more thinking character interaction/cutscenes, I can understand more where you're coming from - although if you've only played once, you still do have quite a bit of new content to discover, because the game makes you choose certain things which locks other content out, such as choosing to take on the mage quest or the templar quest.

Thanks Chernaya, I had forgot about the Mage -vs- Templar story split.  Good point.

Maybe it's because DAI pc doesn't feel like a real person. And your companions are not companions anymore, they're like your employees. It's even worse than it was in Mass effect... I so do not want for DA to take that route. It's duty-we must do something, boring-boring-boring blah-blah. I'm only at the beginning and I'm already don't like the aftertaste that game leaves. I'll probably won't re-run it at all.

DA:I better game, but story lacks focus.

I find myself agreeing with this. I find Inquisition overall a much more superior game, mostly due to the companions in it, superior combat, and a much more interesting villain. The story sucks, as in it's average, but that's BioWare.

If you're playing on PC you probably missed a lot of dialog but there's no way to access it till they put out a patch.  My first playthrough was a little over 100 hrs.  I skipped a couple of the side areas.  I only heard about third of the banter possibly available due to the bug.  I'd say wait till they put out a patch that fixes it so, you can hear some new things at the very least.

My thoughts exactly.

'The Blight' is an interesting concept and a good opposing force, but there's no real 'villain' in it...yes we can argue about Loghain until this becomes a Loghain thread and gets shut down but that's neither here nor there. I sacrificed Hawke for Loghain without hesitating.

I find the combat to be exponentially better. I had to mod Origins just to increase the gameplay speed and make it tolerable), and I still believe there's an element of strategy to Inquisition (perhaps not as in-depth as Origins, but I don't want to pause the game very five seconds just do something 'proper', I prefer the game to take place in real-time.)

The companions I suppose can be argued a matter of preference. I very much so enjoy the companions of both games, but I feel as though there is more depth to the ones we have in Inquisition...even if it frustrates me how some characters clearly get more attention than others (Varric, stop appearing everywhere, please! I'm trying to have a conversation with Blackwall, here!).

I prefer the silent protagonist, if only that it lets me use my imagination for what the character says or means by something, but the problem is some written choices you can think are something serious where it's actually meant to be sarcastic or the sort...so a voiced protagonist is a mixed bag for me, but I think it was done alright in Inquisition.

And Again: Mabari.

DAo has better gameplay  and pacing but I enjoyed the PC, characters, wqorld and story over DAo(though with the story only slightly more, both games have sub par stories, it's the characters that he,ld it together) Also leading an organization was great fun.

DAi just had more fun parts for me really. In Your Heart Shall Burn, Champions oft he Just. The Game, the dragon fights, fighting alongside Hawke and Loghain at Adament plus the most emotinoal part for me in any Bioware game.

Lies in Abyss spoilers

Spoiler

All DAi needs is better controls on the PC and proper build up to the final quest and DAi woulds probably be my fav Bioware product.

My Inquistior felt like a character and she was friends with all her companions but Blackwall. So yeah.

I've played Origins completely through about 5 or 6 times.

There are some people around here who played it through 5 or 6 times this past November alone while waiting for Inquisition's release ...

Yeah, pretty much this.

I felt Origins, after Ostagar, was pretty much a complete uphill climb to a great ending. A lot of the climb being a repetitive chore. But enough payoffs were in the mix to make each major mission satisfying, and yeah, excellent finale.

Inquisition starts with a bang, Act 1 is fantastic. Great highs, great lows, and great music, but after Skyhold there really isn’t any focus, just a bland web of really not urgent objectives, sprawled across Orlais. Game fizzes out to an ending that feels like barely more than another optional sidequest.

Hawke should have had a bigger role.

I played DAO enough times to do the different races.

I played DA2 four times. One last time with the DLCs, which were better than the original game, in November, and had a lot of fun with it.

DAI? will probably get two runs because I'll play a warrior the next time. I've never played a mage.

Skyrim got one run that lasted over 200 hrs. That's long enough for a game.

I would say it only fizzles out around the Temple of Mythal.  Here Lies the Abyss is awesome.  Just feels a little too short after Skyhold.

Anyway, I finished one 76 hour run and immediately started another as a female dalish who's going to romance Solas.  The only two other games that have made me want to instantly replay them were Dragon Age Origins, and Dishonored.  So yeah this game is doing juuust fine for me :P

Origins had a more focused story and generally better side quests. DA:I has a much more realized world and more interesting characters.

Take your pick.

Technically speaking DA:I is leaps and bounds over Origin, even if we compare it relative to their time of release.

Gameplay wise, DA:I also trumps Origin in many ways. However, all in all Origins is a vastly superior experience to me compared to DA:I. I'll never forget the INCREDIBLE feeling that washed over me as my Hero of Ferelden struck the final blow to Urthemiel, acrobating as he stabbed his double sword to its head, and the subsequent sense of victory afterwards: it's remarkable. Also the Landsmeet... I love it so much. Especially if you chose to spare Loghain over Alistair's indignation---man, that was incredibly awesome. Also the shock of Morrigan's offer, etc etc etc. So many fond memories.

DA:I? Well, there are moments where I smiled towards it, like Varric's Wicked Grace scene or Cassandra's fangirling over Varric books, but the end scene is just... very, very weak, and Corypheus is an extremely lame excuse for a villain. The ending didn't gratify me in any way, shape, or form: it's just, "Huh, it ends?" and that's it.
